I agree. There is what seems to be a large sense of inorganic urgency from the dealers I’ve talked to attempting to push forward a deal with a markup. To me, this has indicated demand is softer than dealers had hoped and that prices will settle after supply isn’t so artificially limited as more...
As a point of reference, I’ve been reaching out to various dealers about getting an off-the-lot V6 instead of waiting for my I4.
Every dealer I’ve talked to is pricing the car as if its a 2.0, irrespective of if it is (understandable).
Markups:
Low - $7k
Median - $12k
High - $20k
Curious if anyone has financed the vehicle outside of Lotus options given reports that they are potentially forcing people to use Santander. Wondering if this is true.
At risk of asking the potentially dumbest question on the forum, anyone deciding to back out on the 99-yard line? The excitement of deliveries has me considering trying to pick up a V6 rather than wait for an I4. Have contacted a few dealers to see if anyone has stock that isn't spoken for but...
Galpin is working on standing up a new Lotus dealership in the Beverly Hills / Miracle Mile area. Only good news regarding the delays is I may not have to drive to the valley to pick up my i4, ha.
Why does Lotus seem to be such a joke when it comes to launching this car in the US?
I really don’t understand it - the car has a Toyota v6 that the company has already used, the company has released several models in the US before so presumably knows how the emissions process works first...
Does anyone know if a deposit can be swapped between dealers? I am considering a move and wondering what the implications would be. It's still pretty far out - i4 so 2025 delivery - but I have a locked in build.
Anyone have any predictions on depreciation in the US? Seems in the UK, a used Emira can be acquired for a ~20% discount to the current MSRP. Assuming a $107K purchase price, 20% depreciation puts a used price at ~$85k. If prices hit that level prior to i4 deliveries, will definitely end up...
