Agree. The Osmium is more akin to Dolomite and Rhodium silvers in Porsche speak, those are more bluish. I'm a fan of the GT silver, one to show the lines but a great added benefit that its brownish hue hides dirt very well.
As I was picking my Emira color, I debated that and concluded Nimbus...
Oops. Sorry, just checked, it's osmium silver. Got my colors mixed up. I like silver cars (GT sIlver in Porsche speak) but felt Osmium wasnt dark enough. But my comment stands, Osmium looks great!
Great post. Couple thoughts.
First, as a Nimbus Grey Emira owner, I never considered Shadow Grey (edit: meant osmium silver). But holy moly that looks sharp.
Second, I too am a Porsche fanboy (911 TTS, 718 Cayman GTS4.0, Spyder RS) and I describe the Lotus very similarly - that the Emira is...
Things like throttle blip, much easier peddle and gearshifter engagement, more trunk/frunk space, auto-door entry.
Re peddles: the Emira throttle, brakes, and clutch all have a much narrower engagement than the Porsches. When I spoke with a Ferrari guy (who loves Toyota engines) he said yeah...
Interesting take, thanks for the writeup!
I'm an Emira and Cayman GTS owner, with a Spyder RS due in April. All great cars.
I've done various writeups on various forums, my general take is that the Porsche products are an Emira in cheat mode. There are times for each occasion.
Putting it away.
I've learned that at least my Cayman (Michelin Pilot Sport 4S) becomes dangerous when temps dip below 50F. I've had 2 close calls.
Not sure how the Emira's Goodyear Eagle F1s (on touring) are in the cold, but probably best I don't find out.
Sometimes you want a steak, sometimes you want a hamburger.
992 Turbo S, Cayman GTS 4.0 manual, and Emira V6 manual owner here.
Yeah, for engaging driver enjoyment / "going for a drive"... the Emira beats the modern 911 hands down. Much more of an immersive experience.
My take is that...
Slightly off topic, but in the same Car Config menu, where you choose to auto-engage the parking break (I chose this), you can also choose to dip the side mirrors automatically in reverse. Mine was delivered with these deactivated, and I chose to activate them both.
Good point though about...
OP here. 600 miles in now, and I think I've managed to figure out the throttle/clutch modulation. Phew. Maybe things have just loosened up / "seasoned", like you say.
Brake modulation is still a crapshoot, particularly pulling into a parking space.
I continue to be amazed at how much...
Proud new Emira owner here in the USA. As my name implies, I am a bit of a Porsche fanboy, current Porsche fleet are a 2021 Cayman GTS and a 2023 911 Turbo S.
I've always admired Lotus since I drove an Elise in the 1990s, and am thrilled they've made a car that I (6' 3") can more readily fit...
Thanks for this. That thread didn't come up in a search. It also has a few photos of Blue, White, and dark grey US cars. It's given me hope that my Nimbus with yellow calipers might possibly look ok with the amber.
Also found a US Nimbus photo in the USA thread. Perhaps not as bad as I thought:
To all of the US Emira owners (or soon-to-be owners). I notice that Lotus has addressed the US regulations by putting the amber side-markers into the main headlight housing.
As a Porsche guy, I have replaced all of my P-cars with clear or frosted side markers, but still compliant as they have...
I suppose walking away is an alternative, but I do want the car. And hence my question if anyone else has been asked. Making up numbers, maybe they only got 20 cars for 2022 and #10 dropped out and he's asking everyone >#21 to buy into it. I didn't ask for that kind of clarity. I do agree...
