The issue is SOLVED.
Took the car in for service and they performed a collection of TSBs and such. Of note, they mentioned a VDPP (?) and that solved the issue.
Car starts right up. Ow, immediately when getting in. So the issue was resolved, just got see...
It's up to 105k, with 3 hours to go. Time will tell if my prediction is right - I'm expecting bidding to go slightly higher to account for someone "wanting it now" versus the true market price.
I'm predicting 120k for the final bid. Someone coming in off the street for an MSRP build at a dealer, even with no markup is paying 115k otd with taxes and such.
Well, good news - I'm able to reproduce the issue at will.
It's something related to the wifi / internet. Note, I don't have my car configured to connect to my phone or anything - but once you get past the magic dialog boxes about the connection, the car starts right up every time.

New theory: the infotainment is just slow. If others would also like to gather evidence:
1) when cold starting the car, it takes the infotainment quote a bit of time to complete it's full "boot"

I have flashbacks to the 3 months it took to get a clamshell for my Elise shipped. Ideally, I'd love for them to order parts while I keep my vehicle, but I guess I'd have to discuss that with them.
Interesting - I know you're at lotus of Dallas too, so if I call and mention this, is this something being handled under warranty? Do you know the turn around time on parts, because everyone else has been sharing some disconcerting news on repair availability.
I suspect I have a fix, but more time is needed to understand of I'm just getting lucky or it works.

2) in settings > connect, turn off WiFi.
