I think lithium burns even more aggressively under salt water so it certainly would be a sight to see as it went down.

This was one of my favourite lessons in chemistry at school! I fondly remember when we got to drop tiny shavings into beakers of water and watch them fizz and spit... and later drop a large chunk of potassium in a rubbish bin full of water (from a distance, by pulling a container on a string) and watching it go boom... good times. Try getting the school Health & Safety officer to agree to that these days!
Sad news that the fire ravaged cargo ship with 4,000 luxury vehicles has sunk in heavy seas.
