Hi dgrace
You can of course volunteer for testing out the 10 inch woofer with a suitably large cabinet (and occupy all that precious luggage space with such a woofer) in your own EMIRA⁉️
However, all you need for “good sound” in a car is well integrated mid-bass that extends a bit below 50 Hz...
THE REPLACEMENT SUBWOOFER
THAT I HAVE IN MIND IS:
ETON AUDIO USB 6AR
150 mm (6") active subwoofer. Reinforced and powder-coated die-cast aluminum enclosure. Active amplifier module with 160 W music power handling (2 × 80 W), high level inputs, integrated low pass filter 50 Hz - 100 Hz and...
No particular track. It just depends on your own musical taste. Spotify in highest streaming quality will be fine. Look at Mh95’s write-up above. That tells us all that we ever need to know about “Fresh Air”.
Thanks for the great explanation. It basically confirmed what I have anticipated. I will tell you after I get my car, and when I had the chance to carefully modify the audio system in collaboration with a specialist car audio installer in Japan. Unfortunately my i4 FE is not expected until...
Yes, even though I have extremely limited listening experience to the KEF audio system in the Emira, and unfortunately the limited experience I have had was not positive due to the extremely low quality of the music program material.
When my Emira arrives; I will always keep the capable and...
I am familiar with the KEF brand and their audiophile speakers over 40 -50 years. I am thrilled by the fact that the Emira will be he first car model to feature this brand’s coaxial speakers in a car stereo system.
However, except for a brief demo of the Emira’s car stereo system at my Lotus...
Hi EyeFour Eemeerah!
Your “analogy” between high quality waxes that gives a deep, wet lustre with playing vinyl albums on a high quality turntable and cartridge was noted and appreciated. I also appreciated your mentioning that «analog is palpable and you become part of the music. Warm and with...
Nobody should loose their sleep by having nightmares about struggling to get their i4 up to the hypothetical Chinese 400hp level. May happen, or it may not. kitkat’s comments above are 100% correct.
I have the experience doing a similar ECU tuning of my BMW 335i (E93) N54 twin-turbo engine from...
Very similar dates as mine regarding everything. The latest information from my (Japan) distributor is that the car will be manufactured in November 2023, and delivered to me in late February or March 2024. This is very close to the level of delays I am able to take, so I am “praying” there...
Unfortunately we will only know after the investigation is concluded, and someone conveys the result. These days cars are full of electrical systems, and some of them remain active even after ignitions are turned off. Anything can short-circuit depending on wiring flaws or other electric...
The 24th is here. Happy Emira Delivery Day⁉️😅👀🇯🇵 It would be cool to see your wonderful car by some of us other Japan «Emira in waiting» members. Are you in Tokyo or elsewhere?
That’s my taste and preference. I think upper BP will destroy the purity and beauty of DV and Osmium. (I am aware others will choose differently - but my choice is mine;-)
I do not want a dark, black interior, and neither do I want a red interior, so that leaves me with tan and white/gray.
My...
In my next life (second Emira i4 with all current issues sorted - probably an “S” or
an “R”) I will choose Osmium (silver) that in photos makes the car look stunning and very pure. (Should definitely NOT have any upper “black pack”)
May actually be a nice pair if I keep them both: One DV (no...
Just to make sure; I am simply saying that it may become technically possible (later on) to for example tune up toward 500hp. However I am not recommending it, nor am I suggesting it. It would be nice to have the “standard” 420 hp (approximately) that the Mercedes AMG 45S has got. My other car...
Thanks “CornersOnRails” for adding a decisive reason (and explanation) why we definitely are getting the four-cylinder-version of the Emira (and when the time is right, we tune it to about 500 hp).
Long live the timeless beauty of the Esprit. Would be cool if someone rebuilt one properly with...
A follow-up to the car fire in Atsugi, Kanagawa, Japan where over 100 cars burnt down on August 20, 2023.
The fire department investigations have pinpointed that the fire started from underneath the engine of a diesel car. There is a witness, and also a recording from a nearby car’s drive...
Yes, I actually had a major fire in my own previous (ICE) car while on a public road in Tokyo. There was a full investigation as to the cause. It was the very heavy wiring (large gauge) going to the electric steering motor that had come off and ignited.
However, todays incident is not yet...
Not related to Lotus Emira specifically, but a fire in a pachinko parlor’s parking lot burnt down more than 100 cars today August 20, 2023. The reason for this fire 🔥 is under investigation.
News report:
<<A vehicle fire accompanied by an explosion at the multi-story parking lot of the...
And no romantic “rowing your own gears”, but a DCT, which is probably a helluvalot faster on the track (FORD probably did not buy the laggy AMG one - ha ha ha), but according to so many: BOORING‼️ …. And simply not acceptable for s street/road car⁉️
Matt Farah too has said that he personally...
The M139 used in Emira is a transverse version, while the M139L versions are for longitudinal usage. There are probably other size differences as well since the electrical turbo needs a 48V system that requires more space etc...
I definitely think the Emira I4 FE will be both the more enjoyable, better handling, and the vastly more beautiful car (than the A45 S). I have had mine on order since “Day One” and hope it will land in my driveway within the next 6 months.
Apparently the only minor problem with the AMG...
Thanks, Magicman.
We really seem to understand each other. I hope to see you some day. And I really want you to enjoy your Emira V6. “Drive it like you stole it” as the saying goes. One of my friends is also getting a V6, so I may have a chance to swap cars⁉️👀
My frustration is really with...
Magicman:
Despite of what I wrote above, do you really feel it helps to “rub it in” to us who chose an i4 FE over 2 years ago and paid a non-refundable 10% in April 2022 when “speccing” the car, agreeing to refrain from asking for any other changes. At this time (when the reviews came out) all...
Hi EmirOfDenmark
I have another useful explanation about why I still cannot agree with your description of Lotus Car’s intent with the Emira i4.
Together with many Emira buyers around the world, I placed my deposit in the summer of 2021, and completely specified my desired car in April 2022...
EmirOfDenmsrk
You seem to put Eletre, Evija, and Emira V6 in your category “Lotus to fall in love with” and the Emira i4 in a separate category “For everyone else”. I simply need to make clear that I do not agree with this, and that I actually anticipate that I both will “fall in love with”...
Kjære EmirOfDenmark
It should be very clear from the Harry & Charlie review what usage, and what type of user, fits for each version of the car. Personally I live in a large, congested metropolitan city, and my age is close to 70, so my choice is the I4 and I am sure that I will enjoy it.
As...
Thanks digilotus. You are most probably right. I was just asking in case it actually already exist and somebody here know the whereabouts. I am still excited about my upcoming i4 FE that I am told will be built at Hethel in November 23, but only handed over to me at my Lotus importer/retailer...
Yeah, the Emira really is a “cracking car” that gives a lot of pleasure❣️
<<adjective [usually ADJECTIVE noun] You use cracking to describe something you think is very good or exciting. [British, informal] It's a cracking novel.>>
The only available Emira Handbook from the Lotus Cars website is specifically for the V6 Superharged.
The i4 Turbocharged car has been available to order for more than 2 years, and deliveries of this model has started.
One would assume that a Handbook specifically for the i4 Turbocharged car...
Extremely useful thread for us that have ordered cars with AMG M139 engines and AMG 8DCT gearboxes.
There is relevant criticism in the various reviews, and there is a genuine need for LOTUS & AMG to address the DCT gearbox software issues. However I feel that the difficulty is not only that...
