Just making sure that everything herin is respectful and does not violate forum rules? Everything I wrote are my own words, and no “chatgpt copy paste” whatsoever was involved. My inspiration came from the piece from “Lotus of Naples” (posted in this forum via TomE) that clearly stated...
I am not a US official, nor an expert on US homologation of cars. I am also not in any way or form related to LOTUS CARS, or the LOTUS distribution network, neither in the USA nor anywhere else in the world. I am not even a US citizen, and nor am I a resident of the USA.
Everything I have...
And every time you hear such slow, imprecise, and inferior manual shifts, you long for the superior shift speed and precision of a dual clutch transmission 🤣🤣🤣 (I couldn’t resist….)
(Actually I am well versed in manual shifting, and have years of experience with manual gearboxes both on street...
What does CARB approval for a brand new car model entail?
It is all outlined below (in the link). It should be noticed that even if this started as a California initiative; it is getting more common that new car models for sale in all of the USA seek this approval.
An entire group of...
I guess it would have made even more sense if we knew what the approximate head-count was before the cut? Not sure if this is public information? I wish that a stronger Lotus (UK) emerges out of this and especially that their quality control keeps on improving. I look very much forward to the...
There are actually no-one in this thread (especially not me) who have suggested that we want the Turbo I4 to sound like an I6, V6, V8, V10, or V12.
I personally currently own two I6 twin turbo cars, one of them with a full Akrapovic exhaust system, that most likely sound a helluvalot better...
The Emira I4 (2.0 Turbo AMG) is a very rare car. It has been available to order for over 2 years, but until Goodwood 2023, it was never properly ‘unveiled’ or presented to the press and the public. Especially its engine and exhaust sound has been actively suppressed for public view (and hearing)...
….But still the Emiras seems to be rolling in via ENORMOUS transporter trucks (lorries?)
(It is a “borrowed photo” so I do not really know “when and where”.)
In order to compare apples to apples, and oranges to oranges; we will need to know the genuine weight of base model Emira (I4) and base model Emira V6, as well as Emira FE (I4) and Emira V6 FE.
I have a feeling that all the numbers have not yet been quoted and put together in an easy to read...
This will be up to each prospective customer to decide what each car model on the market is worth. In my opinion the 2.0 AMG - I4 still have its own advantages (over the V6 Supercharged), so it depends on which features, what kind of sound from engine/exhaust and what kind of gear system: faster...
This link is to ‘Lotus of Naples’ Emira I4 at Goodwood 2023. In my opinion, the engine sound may either be electronically generated and reproduced over speakers inside the vehicle, or possibly picked up by microphones, amplified and reproduced by speakers inside car. We will not know unless...
This could mean that engine/exhaust sound gets picked up by mikes, amplified, and reproduced by speakers inside the car. This has been hinted about previously as a possibility. I personally would definitely want a switch to be able to turn such effects off; or else I will have a car electronics...
Thanks, TomE - as you can see I just observed Gavan driving it in a non-timed run. I did. spot the Radford Type 62 Pikes Peak running a couple of times as well. Great to see these most special cars run at Goodwood. This time I managed to watch most of the streamed footage via YouTube streamed...
Do anyone have knowledge of what happened to a Lotus Evija run by Jenson Button up the Hill Climb?
Of course all of Saturday got cancelled because of the prevailing windy and rainy weather.
Normally one would assume that the Evija would then have been run (by Jenson Button) on Sunday. But this...
Jenson Button is supposed to do a time attack in the Evija at Goodwood today Sunday July 16, 2023.
Does anyone know what time (UK, GMT) this is scheduled to happen?
Emira 2.0 AMG (I4) giving a great impression on the first run up the hill on at Goodwood, today Sunday July 16, 2023 (unfortunately I have not managed to compress the video file size enough to be accepted for upload here). I think the driver is Katie from the Lotus Driving Academy
Thank you for recording and posting this. As expected, the Emira 2.0 AMG (I4) sounds more similar to other Lotus 4-cylinder models like Elan, Esprit, Elise etc of the past, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder in particular tends to have its own, more discrete, character. There is no use in holding...
Don’t necessarily agree🤣🤣🤣
Will tell you more after my I4 FE has arrived❣️ (seems like I am the last I4 defender - along with a largely silent majority). At least my price was locked in by April 2022 - so I don’t have to deal with the latest hike.
Very purposeful and business-like. Made to be one of the most efficient and powerful engines ever (in relation to its compact size). It is devoid of styling for styling’s sake.
Lotus has a very long history of producing various cars with 4-cylinder engines. The Emira I4 (2.0 4-cylinder turbocharged) is the latest car in that tradition. Lighter, lower point of gravity, and probably equally powerful as the V6 version (except for the purposeful detuning).
Therefore its...
It actually sounds quite “stealthy”; which may be a good idea depending on where you live, and to what extent want to manage the level of attraction you prefer. (My other car - which I also intend to keep - is an Alpina B3 with Akrapovic exhaust - ha ha ha)
Now the gray EMIRA I4 had its run - and we all heard the engine sound, which is fine, but definitely “lesser” than the V6 (which is OKAY). My order for this car is kept firm, and I am looking forward to delivery towards the end of 2023 or early 2024.
