This person may as well have said "wait until you see me pay for my car with gambling money!"
I am also in tech, the only thing the "new guard" can say is that blockchain is new tech -- it's not, it's based on 30 year old+ technology called Merkle Trees, which sucked *then* and didn't get used...
NFTs and crypto are the next generation of ponzi schemes, and companies are just trying to cash in. Both provide almost no utility that isn't better done in a centralized manner.
I'm in the same boat -- a manual is a *must*!
That said, I'm driving around an SUV and you're driving around a Cayman, so our level of enjoyment is quite disparate ;)
In fairness though, my dealer told me it's about a year wait -- so when I go in for the test drive and talk to them in person I'll validate that. My deposit was just a month ago so I have reservations on that accuracy, but at the same time -- who knows? Once I get some validation on that I'll...
If I was to do anything, it'd probably be this... though a very fair shortage of MX-5s out there used, and at the price points I am seeing them, I might as well buy a new one and get some peace of mind in its reliability.
I’ve driven one before — not this year, and they are nice cars for sure, but doubly don’t want to waste money and want the discrepancy of what I drive now versus what I get to be ridiculous.
I’m patient, I’ve waited a long time, a bit more won’t hurt.
I have opted to wait, whatever the wait is -- and not bother with the M3 at all. Yes, I'll lose some enjoyment for the year I don't have anything, but when I get the Emira the difference between driving an SUV and *that* will be astounding.
I'd rather be patient and not lose the $10-15k, and...
So I have a stupid question - and this is based on what I'm hearing here and other places... I put my deposit down about two weeks ago (late to the game, yeah, I know!).
Here's my dilemma -- I put a deposit down for a BMW M3 a while ago, with an expectation I'd probably get it in April of next...
I'm sure with 100% proper attention to detail on the interior you can maintain almost anything, but given the nature of what most people maintain at which is probably a hair less than "obsessive", the results over time would be pretty staggering.
Your example is a little anecdotal.
I keep cars 5+ years in general, so it's a consideration for me... especially since there is no gas equivalent that Lotus will be putting out after this.
Hi all -- just curious on the thoughts on this -- I like the idea that I can show my engine bay off through the rear window, but wouldn't mind some UV protection since I live in Texas. I figure it might be best to opt against it, and tint the windows after I get the car, but thoughts? I don't...
I am just curious what the production numbers are looking like for Lotus' targets for the Emira?
For example, I think Chevy has a 40k number for the Corvette worldwide, any ideas for the Emira?
The fact that it *can* wear like that though, is my concern. I plan to keep this car for a good long while, and any car with leather I've owned it's been pretty minimal to keep it looking great and soft.
Generally speaking I've learned how to track the car (and this is going back *years*!) to pull my seat back in the farthest position, click on my seatbelt and engage the 'lock' by pulling on it tight, and then pulling my seat up.
The seat has never made any difference because my belt locks me...
Daily as much as I can -- I work from home so I'll enjoy it every moment that I get out!
Will autocross it as well, even though I went for touring since I do want to try to live with it daily.
Hi all - new to the forums, but I have an order in for the 6MT Magma Red with tan interior.
I'm debating whether I should have the alcantara steering wheel, or the leather. For the interior I'm fine with the leather as I feel like it's probably a bit more durable and I actually plan to drive...
So since getting married 14 years ago, I opted for progressively more and more "family" oriented choices -- no, never a minivan!
Before getting married I was a pretty avid autocrosser, and had an E46 M3 and two Mazda RX-8s. The M3 was great, all around sleeper, was powerful (for its time), and...
This post made me reconsider.
I put a deposit down today on a Red 6MT Touring.
The fact I have another SUV for my kids to jump into was reason enough for me to buy a 2 seat car. Thanks for the help and insight folks. Looking like end of 2023 for delivery, which I'm okay with.
My midlife crisis mobile idea was always an Evora, though I know it had its own issues/problems. It looks as though the Emira is the more 'livable' version of that which should track/handle well.
The question of course, is whether it's worth the swap? Honestly not sure, but I figure it's worth...
Just like the topic says... I have a BMW M3 on order, but the Emira looks like the car I'd really want. I'd prefer the V6 (since it's a Toyota and will likely outlast the car), with a manual transmission.
Appreciate any thoughts on what folks think, and what the difference is? Also curious if...
