Does anyone know if the V6 manual gearbox is superfinished? If not then superfinishing (polishing) the gears will reduce resistance resulting in improved gear changes, increased mpg and increased hp at the wheels. However this will require stripping and rebuilding the gearbox!
That would be great - customisation! I guess it’s standard practice for manufacturers to load up their top of the range models with toys & features to justify a higher price - whether buyers want them or not. In the case of Lotus that’s cup holders!
I bought my current BMW (435D) 7 years ago which came with heated seats as standard. I have never used them! Would happily have paid less and foregone the heated seats. Same for other features such as the device that pipes artificial engine noise through the speakers. Have had 5 BMWs from new...

As mentioned by many on this thread, five of the six launch (FE) colours have been seen multiple times in photographs and in the flesh - all except Dark Verdant. The explanation from Lotus that DV does not photo well so no official photos, or even DV cars for press reviews or public shows...
The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You
Heard it today for the first time in ages and reminded me what a great driving song it is. Very appropriate opening line for first drive in an Emira. How many watts does the Keff audio system produce?!!
Drilled and slotted front discs! Presumably these now the final versions? Earlier versions were drilled only. I prefer slotted discs as more effective in keeping the pad surface clean. Also useful indicators of disc wear and uneven pressure across the surface of the pad.
Excellent feedback from GFoS - extremely helpful to those of us who cant be there in person!
Looking at your photos it struck me that the yellow of the lotus logo on the wheel centre caps seems more of a mustard yellow compared to the lemon yellow from photos last year/early this year...
Great to know there is sufficient headroom for us tall folks (I’m 6’3”). However, I’m starting to get concerned Dark Verdant is just too dark (black). No problem with Dark green that brightens to a lighter green in direct sunlight but I don’t want another carbon black car. Did Lotus staff...
The only images of an actual DV Emira I have seen (not photoshopped) are the ones on the Lotus driving academy site ( lotuscars.com/en-GB/driving-academy/ ) and some speculation these images have been altered as the colour balance seems wrong.
DV cars have been produced as commented on by...
I suspect the differences in steering geometry (sport vs touring) are mostly linked to intended use (though differences in side wall stiffness and spring rates can require changes to camber settings). More toe-out increases the amount of scrub which assists initial turn in and generates heat in...
Reading this thread it struck me that many are forming an opinion on ride height purely on the basis of how a brand new empty car looks from the side. What is the ride height with an adult driver and passenger seated + luggage? How will it look in 5 years time when the springs have lost some of...
At last an actual photo of a DV Emira in the flesh! No doubt about this one.
Also looks like its now possible to arrange a track session/test drive in an actual Emira. Hopefully there will be cars in touring and sport suspension set ups as testing is really the only way to know for sure how the...
I’m pretty sure this is Shadow Grey as it’s been mentioned before that shadow reflects its surroundings and has a blue flake in it which shines out in bright light. Behind and in front of the car are back illuminated panels with a fair amount of yellow graphics. Mix blue and yellow and throw in...
Agree angles more likely than curves to develop fractures when stressed and drilling a hole can stop crack propagation - however from experience drilled brake discs develop stress fractures radiating out from the drilled holes. Not entirely sure of the reason why, possibly a consequence of...
Drilled discs can develop small stress cracks around the holes. If the cracks enlarge and join up it can result in catastrophic failure of the disc. Drilled discs should be inspected on a regular basis for evidence of cracking around the holes and replaced if any significant damage found...
I’m definitely going for Dark Verdant, black wheels and initially yellow calipers but after viewing this combination on the configurator many times i’m leaning towards black calipers with just the wheel centre caps providing a flash of yellow. On the video yellow calipers seem almost too...
Same for me. Was originally thinking of an M4 for my next car then BMW totally ruined it. No way I’m going to buy a car I would be embarrassed to be seen in. Then Lotus announced the Emira with comparable performance and absolutely stunning looks - no contest really.
Tesco Momentum is 99 Ron and E5. Less expensive than V Power and used by some motorsports teams in classes that are limited to less than 100 Ron (Pump Fuel).
Just realised where I have seen Nimbus Grey before - its very close to Rembrandt Silver - the colour of my old Vauxhall Cavalier SRi. Called silver but had a light gold/bronze fleck the same as Nimbus.
Thanks for the update on progress at Lotus on the Emira and great you have seen actual cars in all the FE colours. In the case of Dark Verdant, did the cars have the full black pack or just the lower black pack? Interested to know if the full black pack roof is distinguishable from the DV green...
Wonderful - thank you very much Eagle7. I agree DV looks better without the black pack. So I now have my final specification - just one change (-full black pack) compared to 2nd deposit choice. Will be interesting to see how a DV Emira compares but I suspect your latest render will be spot on.
Many thanks Eagle7 - black wheels it is! Can I be really cheeky and ask another favour? Could you produce a slightly angled rear view so the black wheels are visible but with and without the full black pack inc. black tail pipe finishers and Lotus lettering?
I was wondering about this but having sat in an Emira with black Alcantara seats during a viewing last year Its no longer a concern. The windscreen is surprisingly large in area and lets in a huge amount of light. Likewise the door windows so the cabin has a light airy feel. The absence of rear...
Excellent work Eagle7. I think you have the hue, saturation and brightness of Dark Verdant - its just the glossy shine that needs enhancing somehow to match the planform sample. Would you be able to reproduce these latest DV images with gloss black wheels instead of silver? I'm curious if the...
Here’s a photo of the Dark Verdant planform I took at an Emira viewing at Hethel. Photo was taken outside and the sky was overcast not bright sunshine. I was assured this was the actual Dark Verdant paint that will be used on the Emira. In the shadows the colour is very dark but not completely...
On some of the images presented on this forum a second, smaller rear calliper can be seen at 180 degrees from the main rear calliper. I assumed this was the parking brake which must mean there is a way of applying and releasing the parking brake independently of the main brakes. Don’t see how a...
This is my choice as well and the designers recommendation does not make sense, especially as Verdant plus the other black interior options appear to be OK from the design recommendations chart. I am wondering if this more a consequence of anticipated demand for interior finishes than colour...
