All this talk about FE 2.0 cars with promised March builds and April/May delivery……..what about the 700 FE 1.0 cars that are supposedly yet to be built? I heard that Lotus was going to “punch these 700 cars out in 5-6 weeks and get them shipped out - Sept. - Dec.
Tell me about this “completing your configuration” thing. When I ordered my First Edition 1.0, I configured my car right then, gave my deposit, and signed a contract. I’m in the U.S.
Received this email this morning from “Scott”, whom I assume is the same “Scott” that was my tour guide at the Factory on Sept. 19th. This was in response to my Factory Tour Feedback survey feedback, in which I stated my disappointment on the “tight-lipped” answers to my questions about U.S...
I believe “KitKat” took this photo.
Where and when did you take this?
I saw NO amber strips on any headlights on any of the 200+ cars I looked at
anywhere at the Factory on Sept. 19th.
How do you know the 2 cars were “obviously” for the North American market? I was there on Sept. 19th, and saw NO cars for the North American market! (No amber strips on the outside of the headlights). And I looked at about 200 cars in their holding area. Scott was my tour guide also, and he...
Yeah, I saw that video. There are a LOT more Emiras in their holding lot than he showed. I was there! Don’t know where they are going. They won’t tell you. Not U.S. cars though.
There is a member on this forum that works at the Lotus Factory who said That U.S. Cars had started production. Can’t remember his name on here. It had a double “o” in his name though. Anyone know his name on here? Would like to ask him some questions!
I was at the Factory on Sept. 19th. No U.S. Cars had been built at that point. I got some reluctant info that the U.S. certifications had not been obtained at that point either.
On Sept. 19th, I was the mole doing the Factory Tour. They won’t tell you anything, and I pressed them hard. They don’t have U.S. certifications yet, and don’t know when they’ll get them. In the meantime, no one’s talking.
Ok, guys! I did the Factory Tour on Sept. 19th! Here’s what information I came out with:
(Photos were not allowed inside the production areas…sorry)
1. I asked if the U.S. cars had started being manufactured yet.
They are very tight-lipped about divulging any info, but after pressing him...
As of 9-15-23, the last CARB certification EO approval that Lotus got was on 3-4-21, which I assume was on a version of the Evora, Elise, or Exige. So, Emira certification still pending.
The funny thing was….when I was in the U.K. last week, and did the Factory Tour, I didn’t see one Lotus of any kind on the road in the Norwich or London area!!
I have emailed every email address I have for Lotus Corporate (4 different ones), with a request for truthful information about U.S. car production/certification approval status. I assume it will go unanswered. If I get any info, I’ll pass it on. My dealer is clueless.

Did you pepper them with questions about the U.S. certifications, if U. S. production will start before certifications are received, when U.S. production will start, when U.S. deliveries will start? Etc., Etc.?
If not, I sure will when I go on September 19th!
I’ll be doing the factory tour on Sept. 19th.
Hope to find out all the information on U.S. certification, U.S. production schedule, shipping schedule, etc.
