I'm now glad that the many Porsche dealers snubbed me off when I called requesting an allocation for both the GT3 and GT4 before I was even aware of the new Lotus Emira.
They said "sorry sir you don't qualify for a GT car."
It was a blessing in disguise.
I think the Emira is so much better...
I've read all about the procedure for starting older Lotus cars, including the Evora.
You have a physical key which slides into the ignition then a push button start.
Before you insert the key into the ignition, you need to push a button on the key to deactivate the immobilizer which makes it a...
I commend all you early takers of the Emira.
Buying your cars without even a test drive is quite brave and daring, but buying a car and having to choose the color before seeing it, or a proper rendition of it in the flesh is on another level, and in my opinion is ridiculous and should not be...
I know Europe has recently adopted stricter noise and emissions regulations in the last few years.
I'm hoping Lotus won't restrict North American Emiras with gasoline particulate filters, and add unnecessary resonators and mufflers to our cars which will quiet the exhaust note, since we have...
I believe its a grey car, but it looks very bluish to me.
Just wondering if this is indicative of the true colour, or has it been modified by the photography?
Also, will the production Emira sound this good?
After watching this program, I never realized how easy it is for someone to steal modern cars.
Pick the door lock in 20 seconds, plug in a scan tool into OBD2 port and a few minutes later starts up the car and they're gone.
I know you gents across the pond are quite familiar with car theft.
I...
Does anyone know if the Toyota sourced V6 engine used by Lotus in the Emira has direct, port or both injection?
After researching the GR Corolla(have a depositon on), I discovered that the 3-cylinder turbo engine has both port and direct-injection which is great because it helps stop the buildup...
After reading lots of posts I know that 90% of you are fully content with 400hp in the Emira.
I personally feel Lotus should have at least bettered their latest Evora hp numbers, even offering 435ph to start with.
I've never seen any other manufacturer downgrade their hp numbers on their newest...
When I first went to the Lotus Canadian website the FE was listed at starting at a price of $119,888, and now the FE price is listed at $110,363.
Can someone who has placed their final spec order clear this up, which price is it?
If the $110,363 price is correct maybe I should change to a FE.
It seems for a long time now most if not all sports car manufacturers offer their cars with adaptive dampers on the suspensions.
I've noticed with all Lotus models from the Elise through the Exige, the Evora and lastly the Emira, Lotus does not offer adaptive dampers on any of their sports...
I was just shopping at Costco today and had to go over a number of speed bumps on my way into the store parking lot.
Will the Emira have enough ground clearance to clear the type of speed bumps in your average shopping mall parking lots??
I really don't like the idea of my dealer drilling holes in the front bumper to attach the license plate, I would much rather use a tow hook license plate holder.
Does anyone know if the Emira will have a removable toe hook plug in the front bumper?
I really like the look of the tan interior with the black, the two-tone look.
I've always had either black or dark interiors, so my question is, will there be a lot of glare on the windshield with a tan interior?
Since the dashboard is black next to the glass I'm hoping there is minimal or no glare.
I know gentleman this is an Emira forum, but I had to share this with you.
In my humble opinion this has to be the greatest sounding street legal road car ever.
This Ferrari sounds dare I say much better than even the current crop of F1 cars, more like the old, non-turbocharged V12 era F1 cars...
Here is a screenshot from the Lotus Canada website.
They list prices for the First Edition and Base Edition.
Will Lotus do the right thing and honor those posted prices?
I really have no choice but to track my Emira if I want to drive spirited around corners.
I moved from Southern California, which has so many epic driving, twisty canyon roads I can't even count them all on all my fingers and toes, to Southern Ontario which is the complete opposite, it has ZERO...
Video shows the maximum speed in the Emira in second gear is around 70mph, where the maximum speed in the GT4 in second gear is around 80mph.
A welcomed and rather significant difference.
Means we'll be shifting a lot more in the Emira, a very good thing for manual drivers.👍👍
Since the delivery of my Emira is not going to happen any time soon, at least for over a year, just curious what happens if I move to a province that has no sales tax?
Any problem with having the car delivered to the other province?
I wonder how much heads up notice Lotus would need if I change...
I'm just curious why there's such a big difference in the engine sound between the supercharged V6 in the Exige, and the Supercharged V6 in the Emira??
In the Exige you can hear far more of the supercharger whine than you hear in the Emira.
Is that do to more sound insulation in the Emira or...
I'm going to do a social experiment, by putting a Ferrari badge on the hood, and Ferrari Livery on the back and see if anyone notices and calls me out.
I planned on taking off the Grey LOTUS badge and replacing it with black anyway.
The only thing is I have to come up with a name or number for...
I had my heart set on the Seneca blue, black interior, yellow calipers, black pack, diamond cut Wheels of the show car and now I don't know what I'm going to get.
Really like the Nimbus Grey ( I see it as silver) black pack, yellow calipers V spoke wheels, tan interior.
I think with Nimbus grey...
If I had the choice here in Canada of owning any Lotus it would be the Exige Cup 430.
Unfortunately government regulations would not allow the sale of that vehicle in Canada.
As a previous Ariel Atom owner, the Exige Cup 430 is really the only car that truly comes close to the Atoms raw, sensory...
Since the engine is on full display though the rear hatch, I was thinking of Lotus offering customers the option of a body colored supercharger cover with that matt textured look.
If not body colored, then at least bring the red colored supercharger cover back from previous years as an option...
Not sure if this means I'm guaranteed an allocation or not, I think so.
Also, says I will be configuring my car in the winter.
I would assume they are referring to next winter, 2023?
Just happy to receive any communication at this point.
I did cross shop the GT4 with the Emira, but it only took a few phone calls to make my decision easy on the Lotus.
When I called the Porsche dealerships and expressed interest in a GT4 both salesman said to me that in order "to qualify" for a GT car allocation you had to have owned many Porsches...
I know of two in Southern Ontario, Toronto and Oakville, one in Vancouver BC, probably one in Quebec.
Any others?
Not very many dealers in Canada at all.
When they talk about 700 cars for North America, is that first year launch edition cars, or the total of all Emira's period?
After looking at the design of the Emira I thought it would be a great idea for Lotus to include a front camera so when you're pulling into parking spots you don't hit the front end on those concrete parking blocks.
I just read the specs and it said the Emira comes with front parking sensors...
I feel that the main reason someone were to purchase a sports car is not for basic transportation from a to b, because that can be done in far less expensive, more practical cars.
They buy sports cars for the simple fact that they love driving.
It's the journey rather than the destination that...
I'm just curious if you gentlemen feel that since the Emira is the last internal combustion sports car Lotus will produce, that it will hold its value well or even appreciate in the future??
I guess it really depends on how many they actually produce of this final car.
In 2016 I made a big mistake and purchased a Ford Focus RS sight unseen without having test-driven one.
I had to go out of state to get it and once having returned, I instantly regretted the purchase due to the extremely harsh ride quality, and that was even in the most comfortable setting.
It...
I know Porsche and many other auto manufacturers have added auto rev match on their manual transmissions.
Last year I bought a Hyundai Veloster N and it has auto rev matching, and I'm very glad it does, because the pedals are not set up very well at all for heel and towing.
My Ariel Atom was...
I was just wondering if anyone on this chat Forum has seen a Lotus Emira live in person?
And if so does, it look just as good in person as it does in pictures and videos?
