Wow, well, it's been a while.
As I approach the 2nd anniversary of picking up the first ever Hethel collection Emira, figured I'd post a decent update on all things Lotus Emira!
First of all, those following my car account on instagram will know I'm still loving it :)...
Mine was the first Emira (according to Lotus) to get the latest software this week, I believe it's got something to do with stop/auto hold perhaps?
Car currently back at Hethel for this and a number of other things, so I can report on the software once I have it back.
Definitely lots of new parts on it, hoping it's as good as new (or better than new for mine / as good as a new one now)
Should be a week roughly until it's completed and on it's way back to me... Updates then. Excited / apprehensive.
I've been very quiet on here, with good reason unfortunately.
Since being the first to collect an Emira from Hethel, on 11th November 2022 - you can see from the above huge thread the initial issues I had. Lotus were great and did resolve all of these - however a lot of that experience was...
And here we are... at 1 year old.
I still have the Emira. It's still awesome. But not flawless. In the process of hopefully sorting out a few wee bits and I will write up some experiences, both positive and some less than ideal, in the next week or so.
Here's a video of the full Miltek...
Full Milltek system with OPF bypass fitted. Quick video - full write up later tonight when I get time, plus a lot more thoughts and experiences with the car to share!
I've got it back. It's been away for so long, at the dealers, at Hethel, and a lot of work has been done on it. ECU, rewiring, latest software updates, all recalls carried out - even a new gear stick and a few other interior and exterior trim parts replaced. QC picked up more things, so has...
So the Emira will finally be back with me on Tuesday next week (it's been fully fixed, and some other things that I'll go into once back).
fingers are crossed all is better than it's ever been.
BIG UPDATE COMING....
The car has been away for 2 months, and broken for a month on the run up to that. I've not used it in over 12 weeks. Here's hoping my next post is good.
Hi @ChrisW I'm also in Edinburgh, and have had most of your issues and a stack more too! See thread in my sig for full details. All I can say is it's a great car when it's working - I hope your issues are resolved soon and you can get out in the thing and enjoy it. Mine has been off the...
I've had that done, or having it done now rather, and it is hopefully the root cause of a lot of issues. All I can say is better it's happening now, than you have the car, have issues, then have to wait for weeks or months without it.
It's been away for 7 weeks now. Autotrader has several things bookmarked now lol, but I really just want the Emira back. It's progressing though, was meant to be back for a big car show this weekend, unfortunately it's further delayed. Not really had the chance to use it at all in what is...
@koorby unfortunately I get almost all of those issues, and then some. See my thread below in sig for details.
The over heating issue is the worst - mine is caused by the front fan not working properly, down to a corroded wiring loom. Check if your front fan is working! If not this could...
Still no Emira back - sad times as it's been an epic few weeks of a heatwave and nice weather.
hope to have an update at the end of the week, it's being progressed, but not complete yet.
They are trying, and it's not like I need the car, I have other cars, but I do see your point. I'm being nice about it, want it resolved, and will obviously expect Lotus to make good on the whole thing somehow. Either way the car is great, service is happy and friendly just it's very slow to...
I definitely don't want to just reject the car / get my money back - bear in mind being one of the first to get one, it was cheaper than they are now too!
It's been 4 weeks currently, and unfortunately not any further forward as yet. Weather is smashing too. Luckily I've not paid up for...
Still no Emira. But I came to terms with the fact that I barely use my modified M4. I've owned it for 6+ years, loved it etc, but the time had come. Over the last 3-4 weeks I've stripped most of the mods off the car and sold them, leaving me with a near standard car, that I advertised on...
A week on from my 6 month review, I no longer have the mini countryman, now a Mercedes GLC. Still no Emira, no ETA. Hoping to know more this week. All May's further plans with the car are now cancelled, and will have to review June soon - car shows, track days and the Emira being used as a...
Plan to replace the factory PPF'd arches with something aftermarket when I get the front bumper etc done, will post details once I get the car back and then booked in.
Thanks for the support guys, appreciated :)
re the Ice grey leather, it's the stitching on the driver side bolsters that seem to get dirty very fast. Cleans up easily though, just shows everything, I guess as expected, definitely an awesome colour choice though!
Actually a further wee...
6 MONTH REVIEW
I made a separate thread for this, so will link it here.

@TomE appreciate this might be frowned upon, but a 6 month review I thought would be interesting to those that wouldn't click specifically on the...
My 6 month ownership write up.
I picked up the car from Hethel, being the first ever to do so, on 11th November 2022. It's now 11th May 2023 at time of writing this.
Where to begin.... the pickup and details are all in my 'diaries' thread (linked here Journal / Diary of my Emira Thread)...
Appreciate the support guys :) I'm hopeful that the loom will resolve all the car's issues.... I just want it back this month, ideally asap of course. Show season, track season, nice driving weather season - all being missed currently.
Oh water, water, water.
Front loom corroded from water damage. Massive job to replace. Emira away again for 'TBC length of time'.
More details in my ownership thread.
UPDATE ON FRONT FAN / OVERHEATING ISSUE
Oh dear.
So it was booked in (5 weeks ago) for this week to have the front fan replaced. Lotus HQ sent up a replacement fan in advance, Glasgow Lotus went to fit it - turns out it's not actually the fan at fault, but the WIRING to the fan. And that...
