Sadly it’s a question of time, how it’s kept (outside or inside) & weather conditions. No one really knows if Lotus has remedied the manufacturing process but being a glass fibre composite the probability of it happening is pretty high.
If you don’t have any whistling noise, no leaks when jetting washing your car then let it fly. I had water droplets on the inside of the window after a jet wash. The way to see if you have a sealing issue is to bend down and look closely at the top of window seal directly above the door mirror...
It was never fully fixed in the end because they couldn’t figure it out. I suspect possible door alignment because I remembered there was a occasional squeak coming from the door latch over bumps.
I can tell you both windows passenger and drivers side wasn’t the same. One was higher than the...
I hope you have better luck than what I had. There were sanding marks when blending in on the adjoining panels. Patches of missing paint at the bottom, rough edges, which ultimately had to painted twice. Then door panel gapping uneven which required realignment and to top it off, I had the...
This is why I rejected the Emira and never again. They are literally giving the Electre and Emira away with finance and lease deals at the moment. When will they learn.
No they’re not. Geely are out to use the brand and tech to help expand and copy there own. Once the times up, it will dump the brand like they did with Polestar.
From all the recent posts and on Facebook. Most of the earlier Emira’s from Nov 22 to May 23 (guesstimate) have these blistering issues. It’s takes nearly 8 months to a year for these bubbles to come out depending on weather conditions. First of all you notice on one door, then the next door...
I would bet that these are weather/country dependent, also depends if it’s stored outside or inside. It’s a matter of time, eventually they will appear if the panel has a defect.
I think they already know. Probably in dispute with Lotus. Do you think Lotus are sending all the dodgy panels back to the supplier. As a business man, the supplier probably replied that Lotus haven’t prepped the panels properly 😂. Maybe that’s the reason why it takes so looong to get...
The Goodyear tyres have very little noise, it’s not that unless there is a flat spot. They are a great tyre.
The noise you talking about is most probably the window alignment. Frameless windows are prone to this and Lotus don’t have a good record with QC hence some have issues and some don’t...
I don’t disagree with you. I have previously heard from an Emira owner that his front bonnet was fully replaced from the factory. He said they just swapped the bonnet over. Customer was happy with the outcome.
Interesting that coloured body panels can be just bolted on. I just don’t why Lotus couldn’t sent coloured panels and bolt them on the cars with defects.
Instead they sent out blank panels for dealers to paint and blend in. Some have reported that the factory had fixed it for them ( if you...
Let me put it to you this way. No one will want to purchase your car in the future if it’s a late 22 car and it’s been resprayed. You can tell, it won’t be perfect. People know that early adopters will have issues.
Either reject now and get most of your money back or wish your money away. Auto...
Lotus have never ever called me. Their CS is non existent and they don’t really care. All they want is for you to go away. Trust me. It took nearly 4 months to get my money back (that’s with weekly chasers).
The time for the blisters to come through depends whether the car is stored inside or out. Mine was stored outside in the elements, took 6 months for blister to show up on one side of the door and 8 months for the otherside. Together with the cold start issues and occasional break down (non...
In all honesty, reject it right now and move on. Less pain later on. I can more or less guarantee, other panels on your car will bubble as it’s from the same batch. Once it’s past its warranty, good luck with Lotus claims and it would be an extremely expensive repair.
You don’t seem to be having any luck. First time, I heard bubbles on the tail gate. Whether is tail gate or door they don’t come preprinted from factory. They have to be painted and blended in on a new door.
I know a few including myself rejected the car in the end. Luck wasn’t on my side too...
Have you got it booked in for the latest January software update. I believe this may fix your issues. I’m interested to find out owners findings after the update.
I wonder if Lotus has changed its processes. I heard that an owner recently on Facebook said they changed the doors (assuming it was painted at the factory) and it’s perfect. Which I’m genuinely happy for him if the paint matches the rest of the bodywork.
Or do they mean, they got a new door...
Tough one. You’re not being unreasonable at all. It’s life. Probably one dealer in the vicinity and lots of warranty work from Emira and Electres that needs work, need authorising and waiting for parts. Overworked and under paid. Ie small issue which turn into massive jobs like taking the whole...
I’d get it checked out anyway. Don’t leave it. It takes them weeks to get it authorised by Lotus and months to get stock of the doors and then weeks for the dealers to schedule a respray of both doors. Is yours a an early build (late 2022) car?
I’ll be honest. You won’t get another car at this price range which looks, sounds and drive as beautiful as the Emira but I can’t let my heart rule over my head and waste most of my time sorting issues out and going to the dealers.
In order to reject a car in the UK, you have to firstly let them fix your car at least twice within a reasonable timescale. After the second attempt, if it’s still not fixed, you may be offered a new car from stock.
I’ve successfully rejected my car recently after exhausting all the above...
I first reported the cold start issues back in July. It’s December now and no signs of any progress. I’ve paid 1 years finance for the pretty looking lump to sit on my driveway and splutter and break down intermittently. I’ve got another 2 years of free warranty left. I don’t think I'm gonna be...
Things to check. Window alignment important as it will whistle if not done properly. Panel gaps. Mirror flush. Check behind door handles for missing paint and any sanding blending in marks near the fresh air intake. I had all these issues and had to have the door painted twice. It’s doesn’t end...
Does Silverstone have their own bodyshop or do they contract it out?Totally mad, other Lotus dealers maybe million miles away. Lotus won’t take the car back to the factory to repair, I tried.
The dealers want to change the door which is the right thing to do in case it resurfaces in future (after the warranty ends). However, Lotus want to cheap out and get it repaired instead (quick fix), (also due to lack of stock). Earlier ones like myself got the door changed (but still isn’t...
