I have a Genesis GV60 (fully electric). One of the best daily driver cars I've ever had. There is no "bonging" if you set it up initially not to do that. The automatic high beams and wipers work perfectly. You can turn off various driver assist setting if you want, but no need to since they...
Since this is the USA/Canada delivery thread, anyone know anything about cars coming into Canada? Maybe I've missed it, but haven't seen anything on that.
I was at a British car show yesterday (the largest in North America) near Burlington, Ontario. Lotus had an Emira there and Tony from Lotus Oakville was there. Though I don't think anything actually said that, it was all "Peninsula". Anyways, I talked with him a bit telling him I had a deposit...
So when they continue to produce cars with technical issues, there won't be the engineering staff to come up with the fixes. Many long gone companies got rid of their engineering staff once they had a product in production. Works in the short-term, then you go out of business when you need...
Great news? Bunch of bull. Him saying that production will start in August of this year for the V2? Did he mention that the original ones (the V1) will most likely not be delivered until next year?
Ferrari, Porche, Corvette....they all specify some sort of break-in procedure. No matter what tolerances or care go into building an engine, there are always parts that run against mating parts that need to bed in. Much better to do this slowly over time than force it quickly.
There are of course bad examples with every car. I've had 2 911's, a Boxster, and an i8 Roadster. All were flawless, no issues ever. I would certainly trust the reliably of any of them over a Lotus.
Wow!? The base version, which of course is what most people will get, not for another year and a half. Crazy! I cancelled recently since the dealer could not confirm I would get a car this year. Glad I did since there is a decent chance it wouldn't even be next year.
One thing I really like about Doug and his reviews is that he does not go to the events that the manufacturers pay for. There is a video he has done where he explains that manufacturers fly the "influencers" to exotic locations, pay for everything, and then expect them to be able to write a...
Ask him again today about that. FE's now not coming in to North America until 2024. And base models after that. Sort of like Elon does, take deposit money, don't give updates, sit on all the money you have now and laugh all the way to the bank.
I bought the same car, same colour, last fall. Drove it for a couple days before putting it away for the winter. Can't wait to start driving it again in the spring. It is all wheel drive, so I could drive it in the snow, but choose not to. I've never had an automatic with paddle shifters that...
That pretty much nails it for a lot of potential customers, myself included. Some of it not Lotus's fault, much of it is.
I saw a posting of a note from Lotus (on "another forum") that stated non-FE car deliveries starting 2024. Haven't seen that here; or I missed it.
Should it depend on the size of the car manufacturer or the price of the car that determines how well the support is? I bought a car from a large manufacturer, but a much cheaper car than a Lotus. The dealer is an hour drive away; there are closer ones, but that is where I bought it. I was told...
If you are talking about John Cena, he went to court and lost and paid a fine to Ford. So yes, it can be enforced.

I’m out.
This will be a long one, but I want to explain a few things and avoid the “you just have to be more patient” replies.
I had my deposit with Lotus Oakville since Sept 2021. I emailed Tony a while ago to tell him I was going to cancel unless he can give me some idea when I can expect a...
So with the planned 2 shifts, does that mean over 6 months just to make the FE cars for North America? And that assumes the full production is just for the NA cars. So the non-FE cars showing up in 2023 seems pretty much impossible.
If/when I cancel, it won't be because I don't like the car. It is because I don't like the way I'm being treated by Lotus; told absolutely nothing about when I can expect my car.
Anyone who has worked for a large corporation knows that you have a 2023 production plan in place at this point...
That is my plan right now; wait until early next year, find out I'm not getting a car in 2023, then cancel. I did read somewhere that the numbers for 2023 won't be known/released until a couple months into the year. Seems strange, like a company releasing their 5 year plan 4 years into it!
And...
I was told in March of this year that I will not be getting a car this year. I have not been told officially that I will not be getting a car next year. Just talking with Tony during the test drive lead me to believe I will not get a car next year. He didn't know how many cars were coming in...
Personally, I think people are being far too kind and forgiving of Lotus.
For those in Canada that have put a deposit down, Lotus has done nothing, zero, nada, not lifted a finger to communicate in any way when we can expect a car. I put down a deposit on an FE. Then was told I would not get...
I placed my initial deposit about the same time you did, at Oakville. I was initially told it was for an FE car. I can't remember exactly, but pretty sure much later was told it would not be for an FE car as there were far more deposits than FE cars coming into Canada; something like 3X as many...
I'm not arguing anything, I'm just trying to separate fact from opinion or incorrect information.
"An experienced operator knows the performance behaviors and characterics of their dyno, and can get pretty close on the estimate of the bhp." No. No matter how much experience the operator has...
Yes, I know all that. As I said, I've had many cars on a dyno before and after mods. A dyno operator can only estimate engine HP by assuming a number for drivetrain loss; cannot get that info from the dyno. The operator can put in an estimate for % loss and give you an estimate of engine HP. But...
I'll take your word for it. I've had a lot of cars dyno'd over the years and never saw a dyno give engine HP estimate. I've also seen hundreds of dyno runs on various forums and never seen that.
I also can't see how a dyno could estimate drivetrain loss by relating it to deceleration rate...
Technically, the dyno is not measuring the 401 HP; unless the engine was pulled from the car and the power measured seperately. Since it is measuring wheel HP (at 353 HP) it is calculating the engine HP using 12% drivetrain loss. So the 353 wheel HP is accurate and the 401 HP varies with...
353 wheel HP would be almost 420 engine HP. That assumes 15% drive train loss which is at the low end of what is normally found. So that is pretty impressive! Unless I'm reading something wrong.
Well, my 2nd quote came from a university engineering site. I'll take that over an opinion.
Enough. You are splitting hairs to try and make a point.
Admin, please feel free to delete all this back-and-forth....mine included.
No need to get insulting just because you are wrong. What you are describing is one form of fibreglass; it can take many forms. I'm being "popular" in my usage.
Other common names for fiberglass are glass-reinforced plastic (GRP),[1] glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP)[2] or GFK (from...
However you want to describe it, the panels are "plastic" or resin, that is reinforced with....wait for it....glass fibre. Hence........fibreglass. It is a different process than the old hand layup method, but it is still basically fibreglass.
