Thanks for the tips, will get them to check it out next time it is in. Thankfully coming towards Autumn the AC will be needed less and less!
If the car didn't drive as well as it does it would've been sent back a long time ago!
So after initially being told it would take 2 weeks, 1 month later my car has returned from the dealer (mostly) fixed!
The replacement wheel bearing, along with the replacement ABS sensor fitted in January has cured my traction control/ABS issue at long last!
They also replaced both doors and...
Pretty bad photo, but the best I could find from old pics in my phone! You can just about see where the body colour ends and the plastic begins under the rear window
That's not quite the area I'm talking about. You can see the bit where it joins into the engine vent on the top of the boot lid, the other side of that. Where the water sits after it's been raining.
Just noticed something mildly interesting on the courtesy car. The boot lid is all body colour right under the glass to where it ends and goes into the engine bay. My car is only body colour up to just under the glass then becomes a black plastic the same as the underneath material of the boot...
Just spotted paint bubbling on the courtesy car's boot lid that I've got while mine is in to get the bubbling fixed! Not sure of the history of the other panels on the car or the build date but it was registered Sept 23.
Since my last post nothing has happened on the rejection front. I emailed the escalations team stating I want a new car or a refund and then it just so happens that the part I've been waiting 5 months for miraculously appears at the dealer two days later...
Giving them one last chance, booked...
Noticed a bubble on the boot lid when washing the car this weekend. That makes driver door, passenger door, driver rear quarter panel, passenger rear quarter panel, and boot lid. Nearing 50% of my panels being affected now!
I think I have this issue too. Most obvious in 6th at around 70mph under acceleration. I think it is to do with the gear linkages as, at least with my noise, if I put pressure on the gear stick pushing it further into the gate the noise stops and then immediately restarts when I release.
Unsure...
I think I'm about to start on the same journey you're on just now. Paint bubbling on both quarter panels now as well as driver door. Emailed the escalations team to complain and requested a replacement car or full refund. A day or so later the dealer called asking for pics of all the bubbling...
Definitely considering rejecting it, but not sure if I can since I've had it since Nov 22. If I can reject it for full refund then ideal, or exchange for a new one, or back to factory for rebuild. Any of those would be good options. But if I rejected it now and they gave me only a partial refund...
Just gave the car its first proper wash of the year and wow it was bad... Paint blistering on BOTH rear quarter panels as well as the driver door and also paint cracking along the edge of the left hand side rear quarter panel where it meets the boot lid. Not too happy...
I've been in touch with...
As a fun manual car I still maintain there isn't anything better out there for driving feel and engagement that you can still buy new. My car was one of the earliest so it is possible a lot of these issues have been solved, but as time goes on I'm likely to discover more as an early buyer. It...
On the bottom of the door there seemed to be 3 holes, one nearest the front of the door which is also the furthest down where water would drain there was no plug in the hole so should allow water out, the others had rubber plugs which I removed and that is where I felt the slight moisture. The...
Checked the drain holes, no water coming out of them but it did feel damp inside with a slight water droplet on my finger when I took it out. When I did this checking the bottom of the door where the drain holes are I spotted more bubbling down there as well...
I'll try and look for a drain hole, but not today, it's pissing it down and don't want more water inside 😂
Not had any whistling from the windows so hopefully the seal from the door to the roof is good. I do keep the car outside so I think water must be getting in somehow.
Interestingly the side that had the condensation that day is the same side as the door with the new bubbling, and with the body shop finding loads of water inside the other door due to a failed seal, it could be something to do with this! Could be the window seal where it meets the upper roof...
Been a while since I updated my thread, and not a lot happened since last time but what has happened is generally not positive...
One positive thing that has happened, that I think I've posted about elsewhere, is the passenger door was replaced successfully and the paint blended extremely well...
Is that in a new update to the handbook? Don't remember seeing that before!
Just checked, my version of the handbook from 2022 has no mention of using any different modes during running in.
If that's just the auto hold after the update that doesn't sound right. The auto hold, as far as I'm aware, you can't turn off and should just engage for a couple of seconds and when the car senses movement, or the clutch is out a certain amount or something then it automatically disengages...
My car has done a couple of cold start stalls recently. Never happened before and using the same fuel as always, and as far as I'm aware no new software updates since I think May last year. Cold start the revs seem to "chug" slightly and then it dies. If you add a little throttle for a couple of...
So I picked my car up from the bodyshop on Saturday and all in all it seems like a very successful replacement. Checked the door in different lights and the paint match with the original Magma Red seems very good - can't tell a difference and the reflections all match the same way. When I...
Once I have the car back and checked over I'll do a post detailing the whole process, what I saw and when, who I contacted etc and the steps and timeline towards a resolution :)
Just heard from the body shop the missing seals are being delivered next week and then the door replacement will be completed and should be able to pick my car up soon after! Going to do a very thorough inspection of the paint quality to make sure it is an exact match on the blended panels so...
Just dropped my GR Yaris for its 6 month safety check at Park's Aberdeen and there's a DV Emira parked outside! Not sure if they're selling it or it's a customer car but surprising to see it at a Toyota/Honda garage. Anyone's on here?
Edit: just spoke to a staff member, apparently it's just a...
Update from the body shop, when they were taking off the old door there was apparently about an inch of water sitting inside it as the seals had failed. These are not normally replaced during the door replacement, and are also on back order. No estimate on when it will be completed...
So that's my car a year old now, still loving driving it, and we've FINALLY nearly sorted all the problems! 🥳
The car was in with Lotus Glasgow over the last week or so where they carried out all the recalls and the first year service. There were several issues to be checked, some have been...
Just watched that video, while I agree that the customer service leaves a lot to be desired, I also think to an extent he has been a little unreasonable. Near the start they told him to take the car into the dealer so they can look at it, which for an issue that requires a repair as major as a...
I heard back from my dealer/bodyshop in the last couple of weeks, Lotus have approved a replacement door for my car under warranty and it is due to arrive in the coming weeks, booked into the bodyshop for mid-November!
The bodyshop told me as soon as they saw it that similar has been seen on...
Yes, but the issue is apparently due to an issue in the actual composite material the door is made of not curing properly which allows the moisture in. The body shop said even if it was sanded right the way down and repainted it would still happen again.
No idea if the car was only ever dry...
Yep, needs a new door. Mine has been on order for several months and no news as yet. The more it bubbles eventually the paint flakes off and leaves a chalky white blob instead which is lovely.
The B974 over Cairn o' Mount is probably the best driving road I use regularly. Quickest way to head south for me, most of the time less busy than the A93 over Glenshee, and IMO as driving roads go it's up there with the best! An early morning run on a sunny summer day is fantastic.
