Tailgate issue in my case was not water flowing into trunk when opened after washing/rain. This can be avoided if you do it carefully and there is no real fix. Problem was tailgate frame filling with water, which is discussed in detail here...
Prior to Emira I had 2013 (early production) ExigeV6 for 9 years, 45 k. miles and over 80 trackdays. No real issues with it ! Had my doubts before getting Exige, but was converted. Still wish that Lotus in UK will do well and it does not end like MG.
Sold my Emira today. Shortly after the photoshoot above it got engine related electronic problem which Lotus has failed to fix for 4 months now.
Also leaking tailgate was not replaced for 9 months and counting, they just couldnt supply replacement. Not a major issue itself, but if replacement...
This makes sense. My car was was built in Sept '22. Did run fine last year over 1600 km's, was then stored indoors for winter. New software in April '23 and then problems started, engine goes into safe mode. Don't know what codes it throws ? Dealer has checked wiring and didn't find anything...
I have been told, that Lotus will release new software and only after its installed they will investigate other possibilities in case the error messages stay. Therefore I'm development driver for Lotus, paying for the pleasure. What I don't get is how its possible that many cars running same...
My car has now been at the dealer for 11 weeks with engine fault issue. Lotus has stated that they do not know what exactly is the problem ? Therefore no idea, when and how it gets sorted ? Hope they will do better with yours.
I was lucky to get GT4RS same time with Emira this spring. After 6k km’s and 4 trackdays no issues with it. It just works like my previous 981 and wife’s 718 4,0.
Sure every brand has its share of problems and there are also happy Emira owners with faultless cars. Still hope to be one of them...
By end of June it will be 3 months when my car has been at the dealer.
If this really is only software related, all cars using same version should have same issue. Which is most probably not the case, otherwise we would see more complaints here and dealer would have more than few cars sitting...
When I asked them just to clear the codes, dealer said it’s not worth the effort as it doesn’t fix the problem. They have several cars with same problem. Have to wait for new version of software. Probably my car was flashed with same “latest” version what you have. Now Lotus is saying its no good.
I have experienced similar issues, going to limp mode and engine light on. My dealer Komotec was informed by Lotus, that its software problem and new improved version, which is suppoused to fix the issue will be released by end of June. My Oct delivery car was already flashed with “improved“...
Yes. Havent drilled any holes despite suggestion, hoepfully Lotus delivers replacement hatch one day.
Have done 2 k. km in it and really like the car, but still considering to offload it asap after getting fixed. Ownership experience is not just about product and brand image. Reliability and...
Soon its 2 months while dealer tries to solve the engine fault issue, Lotus is failing to help and they do not have inhouse expertise. 6 months waiting for leaking rear hatch replacement. No luck yet.
6 months for me. Did 1 k. trouble free miles (except wiper issue) last year, then stored for 5 months in winter which obviusly is not car's fault and now already over month waiting when electronical issues will be fixed which occured during first drive this year. Still no info whats the problem...
In Germany I think this is even not possible and car is useable, so it’s not critical. But I’m wondering if something which prevents driving needs replacing, then what ?
I’m waiting for Emira replacement parts for 5 months as of now and still no idea when they will be delivered ? Also it took recently about 3 months to get some engine parts for my V6 Exige. Hope its not the case with your issue, but Lotus seems to have serious problem with parts supply.
I’m out of country and unable to test it like described here. They told me its fixed, reading the replies here seems like its not possible. Will have access to car again in 2-3 weeks, lets see. If I understood correctly they fixed the problem inhouse, independently from Lotus.
TBH starting to...
Alhough RS has 100 hp advantage, in street driving Emira does not feel much slower, as mostly shifting in RS is done between 5-6 k. when it still has 3-4 k. to go. Full throttle RS engine is masterpiece, no contest. Manual is more fun on street than PDK, which again is very efficent on track and...
When did you first notify your dealer of this problem
Oct 2022
Who is your dealer
Komotec, Germany.
What actions were taken, if any
Did the dealer notify Lotus HQ
If so, what was the response and estimated timeframe of a fix
Dont know and no comments from dealer
Country of your cars...
Mine was built in 04.10 and arrived in Mendig 12.10. Weight according to CoC is stated ready to drive (fahrbereiten) and actual (tatsachlichen) both 1586 kg. Maximum permitted weight is 1763 kg. Whatever this means, actually my car weighted 1450 kg with 3/4 tank of fuel and no driver.
37 cars is like almoust nothing. I got my car from Komotec also in Oct, but its not registered in Germany.
I second that in Germany (at least in western and southern parts) you get very little reaction from public, whatever nice car you drive. And its a country with huge enthusiast scene, car...
I'm quite sure that mine was stuck in "Intermittent Wiping" mode, not lower continious speed. Not 100% sure if it still responded to interval adjustment, as it was raining a lot and I turned the adjustment wheel to minimum interval.
I reported this problem back in Oct last year. Happened immideatly after driving out from showroom, there was heavy rain that day. Was potentially dangerous situation indeed.
Not direct replacement, as my EX460 was mainly for track and Emira is for street, but that car made me to appreciate Lotus brand. Most of my sportcars have been Porsches.
