This Lotus Elan M200 was designed as a Speedster concept car based on the Elan M100 and was displayed as a promotional vehicle by Lotus at 1991 automotive shows. The one-off car is said to have been later utilized by the British Automobile Association for marketing purposes before being acquired by a UK-based Lotus dealership. It was subsequently purchased by notable Lotus collector Olav Glasius, who reportedly commissioned a refurbishment that involved refinishing the body in yellow as well as performing mechanical work. Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four, while shifting is via a five-speed manual transaxle. It rides on 17″ OZ Racing magnesium wheels and is further equipped with fixed headlamps, fog lights, a pair of wrap-around windscreens, a roll bar, and a rear wing. Inside, the two-place cockpit is split into individual compartments for each occupant and houses bucket seats trimmed in gray cloth with purple inserts accompanied by Sabelt harnesses. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2022, and work performed in March 2024 involved a timing belt service as well as replacement of the the water pump, fuel pump, and fuel injectors. This M200 concept car is now offered at no reserve on a bill of sale in Hallwil, Switzerland.
I would love to own it as it’s unique as hell. Not too many factory concept cars in the market. I actually like the quirky, 80’s retro styling (because I’m old). Too bad it’s in Switzerland.
