Hi All, Does anyone use any kind of crook-lock type device to help secure their Emira? I am considering purchasing one for mine, but I am concerned that some of the standard after-market ones will be too long/large to fit the small Emira steering wheel.

Does anyone have any experience and/or can recommend a device that they know fits and works well?

Thanks in advance

Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

I use the Stoplock Pro Elite on my Emira. I did some research and that one seemed to do well in tests plus its relatively compact for storage when driving. The Emira has an irregular shaped steering wheel which make things a little more challenging. I fit mine with the lock at 4 o'clock and the arm raised up to 10 o'clock. However, I can only get one of the two locking loops over the wheel. But once it's fitted it's impossible to tell that it's only half on plus I think with these sort of things 90% a visible deterrant anyway. Link below.

The yellow matches well with the wheel centre strip and the calipers :)

Anyone tried the pedal locks? Less of a visible deterrant, but smaller and easier to store?

I am not a professional, but they may deter the "casual crook", but I do not think the casual crook would be looking to steal a car that stands out like a Lotus Emira. Unless someone left it unlocked with the key fob it in, but remembered to put the wheel or pedal lock on?
I used a pedal lock when I lived in the Bronx in the 1980s on my 1977 Porsche 924, it did not have an alarm system.

I could not take the time to put that on every stop ...But know some have patience to do so..
I have only had one vehicle stolen and funny 1987 Plymouth Reliant to put all the goods in car that they stole from house.
And if you have to know we were all (3) sleeping when house was robbed...
But paying hefty insurance and if stolen its covered..
But more than stealing it is if they do damage to it pisses me off more than if they stole it..
