ICE or EV sportscar, made by Lotus

Would you cancel your purchase of the Emira for an EV version weighing 1000+ lbs more and is faster?

It has been suggested that perhaps Geely would prefer to transition Lotus to Electric, sooner than was originally planned. Their assumption may be that we would certainly prefer a more powerful but heavier EV version. So, what do you think, Emira people? Please vote.
Thanks. (y)

Needs a 4th option: both.

I bought Emira to live in the garage as my analog toy beside an EV daily. Very good chance that EV is also a driver-focused sports car, whether that’s a Boxster or a 135.

I wouldn’t cancel my Emira for it, but I’d fully embrace an EV sports car and look forward to them.

I guess this is more for those who would cancel their Emira order to buy a much heavier but faster EV sportscar. It's great that you have the financial means to have both. I may end up with two sportscars but would not spend a total of over $230,000 for cars that would most likely not each be driven more than 2000 miles per year. The MX5 in my garage is loads of fun to drive and is a convertible.

Exactly my case as well. I will always have an EV daily driver as they're way better than ICE's for that use, but I want an analog driver's car for the weekends and fun occasions.

I bought the Emira with the intentions of it being a forever car. I look at it like a Miata but with timeless supercar looks… or like a restomod Ferrari 460 with a lower red line.

The other side of the garage will be a rotating cast of whatever EV inspires at the moment.

I’m imagining the Emira being paid off or close to it before the other side of the garage sees a splurge of equal value.

Side note my last combo was an ND Miata and a Model 3 Performance and I really struggled with which one to take to the track each weekend. Totally opposite experiences but both very fun.

Emira is a passion purchase for me. The quale of various sports car elements meshing together is critically important for this type of purchase.

I already have a fast EV, it’s fantastic at devouring commutes and simplicity of ownership and maintenance.

I’d rather not try to merge the two together to create a jack of all trades master of none scenario.

They have a lot to prove to get the ICE Emira dependable first and a they need a proven track record of building EVs. If they announced it was going EV I would immediately cancel my order. It'd be another 5 years to wait too.

I'm hoping the Type 135 is more "half of an Evija" rather than "Emira with an electric motor swap". But it's all vaporware for a long time anyway.

So far, it looks like we are NOT EV sportscar lovers. Lightweight, low-slung, and quick trumps heavy, tire-destroying and drifting EVs, at least until super-lightweight batteries are available.

The EU Stage7 emissions regs come in June 2025. That could be the end of Eirma ICE production. Getting the vehicle to pass is a lot of work for a small engineering team. The EU7 was scheduled for 2027. This would make the jump to an electric version sooner.

They should be logical in that most sportscars like this will be driven much less than 12,000 miles per year. Here in California, there are many "classic" cars that pollute much, much more than a new ICE vehicle, yet those classic cars can be driven as much as the owners desires. But every lawmaker knows that those types of cars are reserved for weekend rides. Lawmakers in Europe should allow cars such as the Emira to be purchased for many more years for that reason, alone.
