Lotus “bottle cap” attachment?

Does anyone know how the front lotus bottle cap emblem is attached to the body work on the Emira? The original ones on older cars had studs/ nuts to attach them and were smaller, made of ceramic and metal. The current emblem is larger and seemingly made of plastic, no matter- are they now held on by an adhesive or sticky tape? There are no obvious fixings visible under the emblem.

As MikeR says, adhesive pads and locator pins. When Shmee toured the factory he got to fit the badge to his car (timestamp 17:24).

I don't have a picture, but my replacement emblem had multiple strips of 3M VHB tape that holds it on.
