Having had the car for a few weeks, I’ve begun to notice some “quirks” of how it works. They’re not right or wrong, just the way it was designed. So I thought I’d start a thread for owners to post up “did you know if you do this” tips.

I’ll start.
Did you know that if you press the seat memory button (1 or 2) when the door is open, you only need to press it momentarily and the seat moves to its final position. If you get in the car and shut the door, you need to hold the button until it finishes it’s travel.

Caveat - it does in my car. Yours may be different.

Only this morning I was thinking about posting about this!

I think this is pretty common now. I don't remember it being a feature in cars prior to just a few years ago, but my BMW and my Acura both do this now.

This is done for safety so that if you’re driving the car and press (and not hold) a seat memory button, the seat doesn’t move automatically (eg backwards to a point where you can’t reach the pedals).

On the other hand, if the car is stationary with the door open then this isn’t deemed a safety risk so the button behaviour is different for convenience (one press moves the seat to the memory position).

Great insight! Also, if you were someone with long legs and the seat started moving all the way up, it could possibly cause injury with your knees hitting the dash if you weren't able to stop it in time, etc.

Once I get in with door open I press the M1 (move from all the way back to my preferred driving position), which starts the process without needing to hold - if the car is off still, I can close the door and it will continue to go to the pre-set position and then im ready to fire up with my little red switch thingy and seatbelt already on. I.e. i dont have to wait to close my door etc etc

Oh!

When I go into reverse (daily for my car parking bay), I have set one mirror (passenger left - Australia) to aim down so i can see my parking line.

At other times when not going into my bay, if I don't want that feature to activate (i.e. keep staying eye line) you can double press the [whichever] mirror button and it will cancel the function for that engagement in reverse.

On the flip side to that, if you want to activate a mirror to aim down so you can see the floor, for example my driver side one is not set to auto-activate, i believe i can double tap the button and it does it.

Great feature for flexibility!

Another I keep forgetting to come back and write down for yas:

You can instantly mute your volume (well put volume to 0) via the steering wheel volume control by touching (not pressing) from the "Vol Up button" and quickly sliding your finger down to the "Vol down" button. No need to press in, just a swipe over the buttons in a downward motion = mute (0 Vol).

Click the Vol Up button or use the regular volume knob near the shifter to increase volume again (its not a traditional mute where it picks from the volume level you muted at)

Something I didn't realise until last night, which some people might find helpful (I hope), if you want to close an air vent, as there is no little open/close roller like normie cars have, to do so, just slide the vent to the far right and this will shut it off completely.

I realize that it's been quite a long time since the last post on this thread since, by now, we've all had enough time and experience with our Emiras that we've already uncovered basically all its quirks and features. Interestingly enough however, this afternoon, while cleaning the small floor carpet section behind the passenger seat, I discovered a foam access panel revealing a factory sticker with VIN # and Paint Code.
I imagine this may have been revealed elsewhere in this forum or buried somewhere in the service manual, but I couldn't find any mention of it in either source, so I decided to post this in case it becomes a revelation for other members/owners as well. Not an earth shattering discovery, but just interesting to know it's there. Here'a picture...

It is in the full manual early on:

I am sure many if not all know this, but if you hit both mirror L&R at the same time it tucks in the mirrors while the car is on. I have to do this to get my car in and out of the garage. Super helpful.

Isn't that for easy access ? Whereas when door shut it's fine adjustment.
If yiu are only driver set one memory to drive and one access. Then depending on what you are doing press the requisite button.

Another little tip. I use the 2 memory buttons every time I get in and out of the car. I set memory 1 for my driving position.. Then I set memory 2 to all the way back and as tall as it goes with the seat leaning forward (to help me get out of the car easier).. Then when I get back in, I hit memory 1 again once I am in the car and it brings me back to driving position..

I have a bad back so I need all the help I can get to get in and out of the car. :)
