Rear Air Diffuser (Bumper?)

I recently noticed from watching the Harry's Garage Youtube that the rear diffuser protrudes out a little bit from the bottom of the body (which really looks amazing BTW). But sadly that's the first thing that would come in contact with an absent-minded soccer mom behind you who might tap you in traffic. I imagine they must have engineered for some sort of impact resiliency? (but it looks a little too delicate to me to withstand very much). Has anyone else pondered this?
