Servicing / Updates in UK

When I get my Emira, I will probably not have it serviced at a main dealer (although I'm still not 100% on this yet).

Is anyone else in this situation and if so, can you just get in contact with the dealer to ask about any new software updates (I presume these are VIN-related) and then go and get these installed? My independent may not have online access to the latest Lotus software squirts.

If so, I presume that the updates are free / no-cost?

Independents definitely cannot do any updates. You can’t even pull the current versions via OBD, so you’ll have to stick to your main dealer for that. However I’d bet my last shirt on your dealer not keeping track of updates for you. They’ll tell you to come in and check there. They can’t even keep track of recalls soooo…

Independents also cannot read all error codes. I had some stored that didn’t even show up as unknowns via OBD.

At the current state I’d guess you’ll be doing the main dealer trip more often than you’d like to
