Hey,

I'm encountering something strange with my Lotus Emira. When it’s hot and I’m back from a spirited ride, I get a creaking noise from my steering wheel. It seems like it’s coming from the suspension or undertray. And you can clearly hear that inside the car (creek noise when turning steering wheel) Has anyone else had the same issue?

Hiya. There's been several threads about noises like that. I had it for a while when I first took delivery but it seemed to go away on its own. Here's the most comprehensive thread...

I was there . Looks like people there have few different issues . How long have you wait till noise disappear. Im at 1300 miles and looks like dealership need to look at it . Unless someone knows how to fix so I’ll try it

Mine went fairly quickly. It was definitely gone by 1000 miles when I had the oil changed. From memory of the thread, top suspect was the undertray sections being loose. However, I think someone ended up having loads of steering parts replaced!

I checked the bolts of undertray yesterday and they seemed to be ok :(

Wondering if anyone has been able to pinpoint what the issue is here. Im at 2300 miles and the sound after the drives seems to be louder (I didn't notice it on my initial break in).

Didn’t upload any videos because it’s essentially the same as the other videos.

Took it to the dealer and they’re ordering a new steering rack 🤞

Thanks for this update, I've been watching -- I have a similar very light ticking, it's gotten less pronounced @ 3,600 mi in -- but still present. I'm pretty sure it's just some aluminum panels flexing.

This is different noise / I got creaking noise when I’m turning my steering and car is parked . Loud creaking noise from suspension / steering wheel

I have exactly the problem, started a couple of weeks ago and the car went in to be looked at and they reported it was misaligned undertrays. Came back with a much reduced noise but it has just started again louder than ever. Due to go back in the shop at the end of next week.

Also had a new one yesterday the AC now only blows out of the windscreen vents - will not blow out of any other vents irrespective of AC settings. Not ideal in the Middle East. They say they know the issue and will have the parts to hand.

Yikes. At least you got a new steering rack. Advise on whether I should get mine done? I’m about 3500 miles and the sound is still present.

My car has 1800 miles . If you have noises same as me I would advise you to take your car to the dealership

I got my car back last night - they had the dash off to fix the AC issue. They say the creaking noise was due to a bolt on the steering rack that needed to be loosened and retorqued. Seems fine now but I'll keep this thread updated.

I have asked for details of which bolt.

They replaced the steering rack and car still making creaking noises . It’s been there for 5 weeks and they are still trying to figure out what’s going on
