Hi Hal.My auto dimming mirror never worked out of the box. I have the factory tinted rear window and lights from cars behind is never strong enough to trigger the sensor. I was constantly blinded by headlights from my side mirrors. So I bought one of those webcam privacy shutters.

Problem solved...
Ah, the one I blocked is the front sensor so that it thinks it's a lot brighter from behind. I did play around with the dimming sensitivity to no avail. I even contacted my dealer, and they said my car didn't come with auto dimming mirrors...Hi Hal.
I'm not sure I follow the logic of this mod, and perhaps I'm not understanding your explanation. If you're trying to avoid being blinded by others' strong headlights, by covering that rearview mirror sensor, aren't you effectively canceling out the dimming feature? Wouldn't this make strong headlight blinding even worse?
Btw, you may already know that in the center display screen, under Interior Mirror Settings, then Mirror Auto Dim Level, you can a just the dimming sensitivity to low/normal/dark. This sensitivity adjustment is helpful, particularly for those with Privacy Glass (like mine).
