Got your new Emira? Looking for some driving destinations? Want to do something really unique?
I used to organize our local Lotus group drives and liked to have a theme for a drive whenever possible. In 2018 I put together a long drive through the some of the hilly areas in South Central Indiana. Per my usual ridiculous self, it was shaped like the Nürburgring. Being in Indiana, home of the giant Pork Tenderloin sandwich, I named it the Schweinefiletring (German for Pork Tenderloin Ring).
It was great drive and a Lotus friend of mine suggested we grow it. So, in 2019 my buddy and I held the first charity event on the Schweinefiletring route called The Tire Squeal, promoting driving, eating and raising money for our local food bank. There were some pretty cool prizes involved for the winners.
Our sponsors, prizes, and rules have evolved since the first event, but the goals have remained the same - have a good time and raise money for people in need. To that end, we raised over $53,000 in direct food bank donations in our first 5 years, which met our goal.
Last week we decided to keep it going for another year since it has received such positive feedback, so The Tire Squeal 2024 will run from August 3 – 18, 2024.
If you’re in the Midwest area and want to do something different, or want to get a group together for a unique event (teams can compete, too), take a look. Several car marque clubs run in the event since it’s a ready-made social outing that bonds club members, whether participating just for fun or for prize competition.
