As far as I know, there are two locks for the ecu. One from the Mercedes as standard to prevent overall attempt (this one has been cracked), and one from Mercedes to prevent Lotus from touching its system and where the problem is.
I thought Lotus had access to specifically tune it to the Emira's needs

From what I remember, the tuning was done by proxy. Only Mercedes had access and Lotus fed them their requirements. Might explain why it took so long to fix the early DCT shift issues and also the reverse gear shift delay?

However, I echo the voices here. Please encourage your tuner to keep the faith!

Probably a stupid question, but can the Lotus ECU be switched for the A45s ECU?
No way, for sure. There is so much an ECU controls that the hardware and software wouldn't even know how to talk to each other from the different cars

Yeah, I get that, but there's 3 ECU's (that my OBD reader can communicate with) in the Emira surely Lotus didn't rewrite all these ECU's.... I didn't think Lotus was that capable, and I doubt Mercedes would have done that either. So surely they are very similar. I'm just clutching at strings because i want a 500hp tune, hahah

Ok, so big update today. After a lot of development, fact finding and implementing several tweaks to work with the Lotus software on the AMG i4 the tuner has their solution fully up and running. Their hardware inc wiring loom, tuning box etc is connected to the relevant sensors and everything is reading correctly.
I'm road testing their base settings before we progress to sessions on the dyno within the next fortnight. Dyno time will allow them to dial in several maps, adjustable on the fly via bluetooth.
I'm very curious to see the final before and after numbers, even running this base map the mid range increase is significant.
Feeling the boost swell in track mode with snap gear changes is a lot of fun.

This sounds like decent progress. Looking forward to seeing the results. Is your car the standard 360hp version????

Thank you for the update! this is mega...and the reason I chose (and probably others) the AMG platform because it in theory should be way easier to tune than the aged V6 platform. Thanks for your information excited to hear progress
