Tailgate issue in my case was not water flowing into trunk when opened after washing/rain. This can be avoided if you do it carefully and there is no real fix. Problem was tailgate frame filling with water, which is discussed in detail here...
Prior to Emira I had 2013 (early production) ExigeV6 for 9 years, 45 k. miles and over 80 trackdays. No real issues with it ! Had my doubts before getting Exige, but was converted. Still wish that Lotus in UK will do well and it does not end like MG.
Sold my Emira today. Shortly after the photoshoot above it got engine related electronic problem which Lotus has failed to fix for 4 months now.
Also leaking tailgate was not replaced for 9 months and counting, they just couldnt supply replacement. Not a major issue itself, but if replacement...
This makes sense. My car was was built in Sept '22. Did run fine last year over 1600 km's, was then stored indoors for winter. New software in April '23 and then problems started, engine goes into safe mode. Don't know what codes it throws ? Dealer has checked wiring and didn't find anything...
I have been told, that Lotus will release new software and only after its installed they will investigate other possibilities in case the error messages stay. Therefore I'm development driver for Lotus, paying for the pleasure. What I don't get is how its possible that many cars running same...
My car has now been at the dealer for 11 weeks with engine fault issue. Lotus has stated that they do not know what exactly is the problem ? Therefore no idea, when and how it gets sorted ? Hope they will do better with yours.
I was lucky to get GT4RS same time with Emira this spring. After 6k km’s and 4 trackdays no issues with it. It just works like my previous 981 and wife’s 718 4,0.
Sure every brand has its share of problems and there are also happy Emira owners with faultless cars. Still hope to be one of them...
By end of June it will be 3 months when my car has been at the dealer.
If this really is only software related, all cars using same version should have same issue. Which is most probably not the case, otherwise we would see more complaints here and dealer would have more than few cars sitting...
When I asked them just to clear the codes, dealer said it’s not worth the effort as it doesn’t fix the problem. They have several cars with same problem. Have to wait for new version of software. Probably my car was flashed with same “latest” version what you have. Now Lotus is saying its no good.
I have experienced similar issues, going to limp mode and engine light on. My dealer Komotec was informed by Lotus, that its software problem and new improved version, which is suppoused to fix the issue will be released by end of June. My Oct delivery car was already flashed with “improved“...
