    Lotus Emira Appreciation Thread

Been a lotus fan since childhood. As a teenage boy in the 1990s I wrote an article for the local auto magazine on Lotus' heritage and philosophy. When the Emira was launched in 2021, I put down a deposit for an i4 within 1 hour of the launch. Got various gifts from Lotus over the coming...

    What is coming 16.09.24??

Chances are, if they ever make this a production car, carbon bits can be made optional and there won't be that many orders for the Theory Pro Max Ultra Chapman Special Edition.

    What is coming 16.09.24??

That being said, Lotus being a "Chinese" brand in the midst of deteriorating geopolitical environments desperately needs smart moves to maintain its brand cachet. To the extent they can do a concept car at a reasonable cost, it could be a good move. Personally the Theory 1 doesn't really do...

    Cost for Oil Change?

FYI -- Just did mine at Shenzhen Lotus for CNY2300 (USD325), which is exactly the same as the local monthly min wage (@40hrs/wk).

100% import tariff on Chinese-made cars in USA

It's been said that the per unit shipping cost of a car from East Asia to Europe could be as low as US$1000. Of course from a manufacturer's perspective that's rather significant.

Finally Lotus is called Lotus in China

May not change the badge though. But in the Chinese language, they can literally use the word "莲花” that means Lotus.

Finally Lotus is called Lotus in China

Been called "Lu-Te-Si" for several years now. They finally got that trademark back. This is according to their CEO at the Chengdu Auto Show. Updates to come.

First Edition AMG 4-cyl price increase

Is this because of higher demands? They are pretty cheap here in China (about the same as US prices but considering most luxury cars are 50%-300% more expensive than US prices, they can be considered dirt cheap now)

So disappointed with Zinc grey ...

First of all, I think the Emira looks stunning in ANY COLOR. Secondly, depending on whether wrapping is affordable in your neighborhood (it's VERY cheap in my part of the world), you could always change colors. In fact this type of grey is the perfect color to wrap over... If you have...

    Seats too high

Out of curiosity, wouldn't a higher position be better for someone with a bad back? I alternative between a large SUV and the Emira so I find it plenty low for me. That said, I did notice the Emira being on the more practical side in terms of greenhouse space and ride height.

Income/Finances needed to justify Emira purchase?

I got a massive pay cut (50%+) recently because our country's big boss decided that our industry shouldn't be well paid like before (Ironically I also won a major award in my company for 2023 for my outstanding performance). Fortunately I did not overextend my finances to afford the Emira, so...
