Been a lotus fan since childhood. As a teenage boy in the 1990s I wrote an article for the local auto magazine on Lotus' heritage and philosophy.
When the Emira was launched in 2021, I put down a deposit for an i4 within 1 hour of the launch. Got various gifts from Lotus over the coming...
Chances are, if they ever make this a production car, carbon bits can be made optional and there won't be that many orders for the Theory Pro Max Ultra Chapman Special Edition.
That being said, Lotus being a "Chinese" brand in the midst of deteriorating geopolitical environments desperately needs smart moves to maintain its brand cachet.
To the extent they can do a concept car at a reasonable cost, it could be a good move. Personally the Theory 1 doesn't really do...
It's been said that the per unit shipping cost of a car from East Asia to Europe could be as low as US$1000. Of course from a manufacturer's perspective that's rather significant.
Been called "Lu-Te-Si" for several years now. They finally got that trademark back.
This is according to their CEO at the Chengdu Auto Show. Updates to come.
Is this because of higher demands? They are pretty cheap here in China (about the same as US prices but considering most luxury cars are 50%-300% more expensive than US prices, they can be considered dirt cheap now)
First of all, I think the Emira looks stunning in ANY COLOR.
Secondly, depending on whether wrapping is affordable in your neighborhood (it's VERY cheap in my part of the world), you could always change colors. In fact this type of grey is the perfect color to wrap over... If you have...
Out of curiosity, wouldn't a higher position be better for someone with a bad back? I alternative between a large SUV and the Emira so I find it plenty low for me. That said, I did notice the Emira being on the more practical side in terms of greenhouse space and ride height.
I got a massive pay cut (50%+) recently because our country's big boss decided that our industry shouldn't be well paid like before (Ironically I also won a major award in my company for 2023 for my outstanding performance).
Fortunately I did not overextend my finances to afford the Emira, so...
I noticed it's in the city of Zhongshan (Dr. San Yatsen). Incidentally the new Shenzhen-Zhongshan bridge will be officially open next month. 25 miles x 8 lanes of brand new tarmac. The Emira would be perfect for the bridge's maiden run.
Very nice indeed. Black rims and yellow calipers are great w/ the green color scheme.
Re dependability, mine has been event free for months (knock on wood) except for a couple of early trips to the dealership.
The world is split into two camps right now: the "EVs are the futures; gas cars are doomed" and "EV market is way too crowded and gas cars aren't going away" .
Frankly most of the automotive world is teetering between these two camps not necessarily knowing what will be the real future. So...
The current Galaxy models are being sold at 15%-25% the prices of Lotus models. I doubt it will have much meaningful impact on the Lotus brand. That said, the Galaxy E8 is indeed a rather capable (and somewhat pretty) vehicle. It's a lot of car for the money.
I have an unsubstantiated...
Not a Brit here but I'd imagine buying new from a dealer isn't the same experience as buying used. BTW, I have a size M Scott Spark XC bike (Nino Schurter World Champ edition) in mint condition for 30% of MSRP... any takers?
What was helpful was that the spoke pattern was essentially CNC'ed into the chunk of alloy cylinder after the forging process, so it wasn't too much work to just flip the 3D model. In contrast, cast wheels need pre-made modes so there is more incentive to cut corners.
While I do not think 2023 results are necessarily representative of the real position (I mean Emiras were most delivered in Q4), I do see significant challenges ahead of them.
For one thing, brushing off gas cars is not the smartest move here. They need to squeeze as much out of the...
