As a new car in GT4, I suspect the BOP handicap for Macau was only based on paper stats. That will have helped the Emira, as some of its competitiveness isn’t directly linked to the headline numbers.
The more cynical might wonder if Geeley could influence the handicapping for their first Emira...
Difficult to be certain as there isn't enough info in the article, but if the car had a single cat and that had been removed then that would be illegal. The Emira 3rd cat is needed for global emissions requirements but it should still pass UK emissions with it removed. That was certainly the...
You could ask your local Lotus dealer who they use for paint work. Very few dealers will do it in-house and whichever paintshop they use will have access to the Lotus paint codes and formulations.
Early Evoras had a 12V socket in the boot that was permanently live. Great for a battery conditioner.
Sadly later models and the Emira only have a 12V socket in the cabin and it’s off when the ignition is off, so no use for a conditioner.
You shouldn’t need to get a complete replacement wheel. You can just get the leather wheel re-trimmed in alcantara.
The core of the wheel (including buttons, airbag etc) is identical between the two. It’s just the trim that’s different. Most dealers will have a friendly local trimmer and...
And no coincidence that just a week later it’s the Guangzhou Auto Show, where Lotus have a huge stand and are showing one of the winning Emira GT4s alongside a Fittipaldi Evija and examples of Emira and Eletre road cars. Now they just need to sort out that Evija ‘Ring record….
It’s a problem with both. The failure mode for the power steering pump can cause metal particles to get into the lines and other parts of the system. This can mean major work is necessary to replace the lines and other components. I know of cars that had the pump replaced but then had to go...
I thought the car went to ignition position 1 when the key is close enough to the car, rather than on unlocking? It certainly is at 1 when you open the door, so everything electrical will come on at the previous settings including radio and AC. If AC is set to Auto that means it’ll start...
It’s purely a copyright issue, it doesn’t reflect where the car is built. Emiras and Eletres (and Elises) in China are badged Lotus NYO, although the Emira is built at Hethel. Eletres in the UK are badged Lotus but are built in Wuhan.
The Emira GT4 is built in the UK.
Welcome to the forum!
Have you asked your local Lotus dealer or one of the larger ones like Silverstone or Bell & Colvill? As well as the cars they've got advertised, they also have some unadvertised cars. They are a mix of unregistered cancellations (mainly around list price so may be out of...
Great to see Lotus back on top in an international race series. I'd long given up hope of seeing a 1-2 from a pair of black and gold cars 🖤💛
Simon Lane, head of Lotus Advanced Performance, posted after the race "Lotus are back on track with a very capable race car. To order yours please drop...

I'm surprised no one has posted about this yet, and that Lotus appear to have done no PR to publicise it. The world dealer map hasn't even been updated!
A new Lotus dealer has been appointed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City Motorcars have added Lotus to existing franchises for Bentley...
I think it’s unlikely they’ll do a heavily modified final V6. A modest power upgrade, a wing and splitter and some special edition trim maybe.
But big changes to bodywork, like the Evora GT430 carbon panels, would mean having to redo type approval and crash testing or go for low volume special...
That’s true for regular servicing.
But if for example you took the car in for an engine-related fault that needed warranty work, they might inspect the car more closely for modifications or review the ECU logs for unusual results as part of diagnosis.
If you have a device fitted that allows...
That’s right, you need to let the systems settle for about 30 mins after you turn off the ignition before you disconnect the battery.
But if it’s already dead and nothing happens when you try to turn it on, you can probably skip this as the car is already unpowered.
That’s why WBAC are low-balling on most sports cars and exotics, there’s just no appetite for them in the UK used market at the moment.
Lotus and the dealers don’t want to force further depreciation so will likely sit on cars for longer rather than reduce prices. Indie traders and private...
Sorry to hear about the issues and lack of resolution. I hope the dealer can get it sorted for you.
Sadly I think the strained relationship between Lotus HQ and many of the UK dealers is contributing to this situation. Lotus took over the sales channel and give only a modest fee to the...
The emissions tax on the V6 in France is eye-watering - something like 40,000 EUR? So it will be quite rare. The i4 will be lower but still around 10k I think?
