Hi. What you are doing is awesome.
Would it be possible to create custom driving modes with this interface, not constrained by the stock combinations of engine, traction, and exhaust (without the miltek valve)?
I would love to have the car is sport with the quiet exhaust at times, for...
I will add to the crazy - if Ford or Chevy offered a half ton truck with manual transmission, I would get that too. For me that would be a perfect garage: V8 4WD truck + large luxury RWD sedan + small RWD sports car ... all manual
I am really hoping someone figures out the ultimate approach for road noise reduction on the Emira and shares it here!
My solution so far has been to drive with airpods on transparency mode. Still able to hear all important traffic noise, but the airpods cut a few decibels which makes it...
Did the PPF installers remove this piece to install the PPF? My PPF installer removed some trim which ended up a bit loose. When I asked the Lotus dealer, they told me they don't remove those pieces for PPF installation, and the vendor shouldn't have tried to tuck in the PPF like that.
If you decide to go with a vendor that hasn't done an Emira before, I'd suggest at least showing them this thread and the photos above. And talk about how they might avoid running into similar issues.
I would also try to negotiate with the dealer.
Just my 2 cents.
Folks - In case you are interested in the Billetworkz shift knobs (mentioned by @Dlirium previously), I have also got one, but in the model "Custom Engraved - Weighted Knobs"...
I bought this Blendmount model for the Emira in June and it is working fine: BR7-2024.
I use it with the Uniden R8. There is a bit of vibration noise coming from that area. However, after some investigation, I have figured out that the noise is coming from the R8 itself, possibly from the buttons.
I have just paid Lotus of Dallas $270 for the oil and oil filter change (including taxes). And they did a quick inspection on the car, updated software, etc. I have just completed the 1000-mile break in period.
I might try to do the next oil change myself. Not so much for the cost savings. But...
Hey - I have done tons of go kart racing and a couple of quick track events like 1 hour at the Porsche experience center in LA. Do you think that would suffice to join this "advanced" event?
And is it necessary to sign up separately for the other driving events (autocross and Monday HPDE)? I am...
Makes sense that they would cancel the Emira as they run a Youtube channel that needs views. At this point, the Emira has become old news, and other channels have explored it deeply.
What is interesting is that another Youtube channel just made the opposite decision, and bought an Emira...
Covering the door sill would be fantastic.
I think you may be able to keep it flush and avoid it becoming a trip hazard if you add shape-strengthening ribs and/or have the liner follow the shape of the door sill beyond the flat area (because adding bends is a way of adding strength to the...
@netsinah Can you remind us who makes those floor mats, please? I saw on another thread but didn't take note. Are you happy with those? They look nice. Thanks.
Okay. Now here is real deal. Just watch this video of Ayrton Senna and you will be set:
You will immediately get the movement. Plus the REAL secret is wearing those driving loafers.
Hey - I also want to mention that it took me a bit of time to get good at the heel and toe. What you are experiencing is not uncommon at all. I felt exactly the same when I started trying. It takes time and then it clicks.
But it does click. Once I went to Porsche experience center in LA, told...
The heel and toe only works for me if I hit the brake with the inside of the foot. If I step on the middle of the brake, I can't reach the gas pedal by just rotating the foot. So the foot goes almost in the middle of the two pedals, a little bit more on the brake.
It is also easier under hard...
This is a great point. The heel and toe objective is to avoid destabilizing the car under hard braking, not necessarily to be super precise on the rev matching. When racing on the extreme of grip, you could literally spin the car if you just dumped the clutch without the blip when downshifting.
I would suggest ignoring heel and toe for now and focusing on the rev matching first. Heel and toe is much easier when hitting the brakes hard because the brake becomes like a fixed pivot point, and you roll your foot to the right to hit the gas. Trying to heel and toe on the street under soft...
I wonder how much the difference in shifter feel being mentioned here is based on actual differences vs. different driver preferences.
Hard to tell without the same person driving two Emiras back-to-back.
But I find it surprising that Lotus would have so much variance in their production.
I am in the opposite situation. I had deposits on both the CT5 Blackwing and Emira. The Emira came in first and I took it.
One of the reasons I took the Emira is that, while waiting, I did a test drive on the Tesla Model S and it blew me away. I went into the test drive as someone quite neutral...
Depending on when you grew up (or even when the person teaching you to drive grew up), you may have learned never to downshift to first because up until the 70s there were still some vehicles in which the first gear was unsynchronized, which would make the downshifting very difficult to master...
There is one practical application of double clutching to downshift to first:
When you have the car almost stopped (let’s say <3mph) and you realize you need to move. It is too slow for second. However, with the car still slightly moving, first gear is difficult to put in.
Blipping the...
When I started driving the Emira, I felt similarly that my blips were sometimes bringing the revs too high. It may have to do with the supercharger, or maybe it is just a fast revving engine.
What I have found works for me is to give it two smaller blips instead of one (<0.5s apart). So the...
