    The inevitable faster Emira

The Euro 7 emissions standard is currently due to come into force in 2026 and car manufacturers selling cars in Europe will be required to meet this new standard - which will no doubt be stricter than Euro 6. Anyone know if the V6 lotus spec engine will comply with Euro 7? If not then Lotus will...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Exactly the same for me. I collected my Emira from Hethel July 23 and have driven it in epic wet weather a few times, though its normally parked under a car port at home. Mine is PPFd so while I use a jet wash its set to low power to avoid lifting the PPF at exposed edges. So far, after 19...

Anyone fitted an Aerie C/F splitter to their Emira? Any problems with grounding, speed bumps, kerbs etc?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

That’s an interesting question but I suspect the reality is that once there is water penetration into the GRP composite, CO2 generation and paint bubble formation will continue for many years unless preventative steps are taken. This is likely the reason the approved warranty fix is a completely...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Essentially yes that’s correct. If the polyester resin is pure (free of acidic impurities) then the presence of water and lack of effective door sealing would be less problematic (I.e. paint blisters would be less likely to form).

Further details of the Teijin press release can be found here: https://www.compositesworld.com/news/teijin-automotive-technologies-supplies-exterior-body-panels-to-lotus-emira Note a different process is used to produce the rear panels/tailgate vs the doors and rear quarter panels. Reading...

UK PPF install - recommendations request

I can highly recommend Jules Sturgess Automotive. Based just south of Cambridge off the A10. Jules did my Emira and did a first class job. https://www.julessturgessautomotive.co.uk

Air con known issue -no fix yet [EDIT: now with official fix]

The resistor pack issue is a well known problem (water ingress leading to failure) and sooner or later will affect all Emiras produced before measures taken to rectify (improved water shielding). Lotus fully aware and should be a recall. Currently down to owners to catch AC problems and raise...

🏆 EPOTM Winner DesertEmira - 🏆 August 2024 Emira of the Month Winner!

I’m curious as from the photo there is clearly much more heat generated by the front brakes which suggests a standard set up for heavy breaking in a straight line (with significant forward weight transfer) - ie a fair amount of front brake bias (not to mention stronger front brakes with larger...

🏆 EPOTM Winner DesertEmira - 🏆 August 2024 Emira of the Month Winner!

Great photo but a question immediately comes to mind - can the front/rear brake bias be adjusted on an Emira (without a huge amount of faff)?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

It would be interesting to know how many of those with paint blistering issues routinely leave their Emira parked outside so it regularly gets wet? I park mine undercover (carport) and no issues with blistering so far after 14 months of ownership. I’m wondering if just a matter of time/water...

📓 Journals People's reaction to your Emira

Over the first year of ownership I have had lots of thumbs up, admirers taking photos and “nice car” comments. One that stands out was when I returned home one evening and the girl across the road and her friend were playing on their bikes. After I parked up they cycled over and said “we like...

Thanks - good to know. Expecting delivery of my Aerie CF diffuser surround imminently. How does the reverse light fix to the OEM diffuser surround?

    Carbon fiber bits

Interesting! Looks like the foam has been glued on. Can it be bent/peeled back to reveal the diffuser surround fixings? How easy are the wire mesh panels and sensors to remove and fit to the Aerie CF diffuser surround?

    Carbon fiber bits

Do you have any photos of your CF OEM splitter (lower front bumper) fitted to an Emira? Does it extend forward beyond the number plate and align with the front bumper or is it set back like the Lotus original part? Looked on your website today and could not find this part.

    📓 Journals Adding Lightness

I think the manual gearbox Lotus uses in the Emira is intended for use in combination with a diesel engine so can probably take more torque as a consequence. Maybe the auto box is not as strong. I’m interested in the Jubu 440 ECU as I suspect an extra 100Nm will make a noticeable difference when...

    📓 Journals Adding Lightness

Would be interested for your thoughts on the additive effects of these mods on torque. The Jubu 440 ECU kit has been optimised to max out at 500Nm which I gather is the limit for the standard Toyota V6 engine before strengthened parts such as forged pistons and conrods are needed. Would a Jubu...

    U0109 - Fuel Pump Communication

I wonder if this fault could be connected with the cold start stalling problem? I had cold start stalling though this seems to have gone away since a software update late last year. Don’t remember seeing any fault codes after failing to start first time. If the engine did stall at first attempt...

    Driver seat issue

Yes. I already had some of this left over from a different application and it works well for protecting the seat leather where it contacts the hard plastic edge at the side of the seat. However it would probably benefit from some form of adhesive to hold it in place.

Weird sound when unlocking and opening door.

I had this at the beginning but relatively infrequent. After a trip to the lotus garage a few months ago for a replacement resistor pack and software update , it has not happened since. I doubt this has any connection with HVAC resistor pack replacement and more likely a consequence of the...

    Driver seat issue

No adhesive - just push onto the edge. I wiped with tyre shine before fitting to clean up the surface. I used adhesive on a previous job and it made a bit of a mess. Don’t know about the centre console side. As it’s not visible I figured leave it alone!

    Driver seat issue

I have a simple solution to this problem. After reading this thread I remembered I had some rubber edge trim I have used before to protect panel edges. Works really well, not particularly visible and took 5 mins to do both seats.

    Emira Standard Wheel Alignment Settings?

Keeping in mind my experience with front steering geometry set up is from superkarts not cars, these settings do make sense considering what each tyre is designed for. Toe out is generally used to give more bite on initial turn in and makes a noticeable difference in the wet. This increased grip...

    Daily Driving

Might be more of an ECU issue than an engine issue. Presumably ADAS will need to communicate with the ECU if speed (engine power) is to be reduced in response to an imminent collision or a change of road speed limit! The ECUs are different for the V6 and i4 engines and maybe the i4 has more...

    Carbon fiber bits

Yes just a carbon fibre cover to hide them. The cup holders are not really useable for cups anyway as they would just get in the way and make changing gear difficult.

    Carbon fiber bits

A removable carbon fibre cover for the cup holders would be great. Have not used the cup holders in the 8 months I have had my Emira!

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

I have mentioned this previously on another thread but have you checked tyre pressures? I have sport suspension and Goodyear tyres on my Emira and noticed that when driving home from the Lotus factory the suspension was fine on smooth roads but I could feel every undulation on B roads. On...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Following with interest as I have come to the same conclusion - the Jubu 440 ECU package would seem to offer multiple benefits for the Emira. First time I drove the Emira was on the Hethel test track and it struck me it needed more torque in the low-mid rev range to get the car pulling out of...

Air con known issue -no fix yet [EDIT: now with official fix]

I collected my Emira at the beginning of July and from the outset there were some electrical/software glitches - which I had planned on having fixed at its first service. Lotus called me following the customer survey I completed and insisted that I took it to a service agent. So I took it to...

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

I had exactly the same thing couple of months after collecting the car. Performed a scan for available stations at the time of collection but to be honest I don’t use the radio much at all (don’t think the sound quality is that good for the radio) and prefer a supercharged V6 soundtrack and...

    Cold start stalling

Tried starting the car this evening after leaving for 24h. Followed Kimmax’s suggestion and activated the ignition without pressing the clutch (had to wait around 10 seconds for the display to light up!) then a further 10 secs before depressing the clutch and pressing the starter. Result -...

    Cold start stalling

Dont know but a little cooler today in the UK than the past couple of days so could be the reason it stalled this morning rather than starting and running rough. Starting seems to be no problem when the engine is warm.
