I came across an amazing Black Friday deal from Galpin on their Instagram, for a 10 year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty through them. It’s ends DEC 2nd. So if you’re in the market, it might be a deciding factor. Here a screenshot

I took delivery of my Emira from Galpin a couple of weeks ago. They included this at no charge. The only fine print is that you must follow all of the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance and the warranty covers any internally lubricated parts in the engine and transmission. The maintenance does not need to be done at Galpin but you’ll have to be able to prove you have followed it.

Is there a recommended service maintenance schedule that is out there? Outside of the 1 yr 10k oil change, I don’t think I’ve seen anything in the main handbook

Has anyone talked with Lotus NJ (Summit) about extended warranties?
I ordered out of Philly ...And will give a month or two to see if Emira is delivered and ask.
No matter what way you go with or without extended warranty probably be close to
same price over time...

That is amazing you were offered that. I would jump at the chance to even pay for a 10 year warranty.

Picked my Emira up from Galpin in the beginning of October and was given this warranty. Interesting to see that they're extending the offer.

I just bought a Zinc Grey I4 from Galpin and they gave me this 10 yr / 100k warranty as well...and the manager explained they do that for every new car they sell. Reason being the powertrains on modern vehicles are so tested and strong this is not where most issues pop up with cars, it's other things like electronics, trim, etc. Anyways I really appreciated it this was unexpected, but for someone who won't really mess with their powertrains too much it could be a big deal down the road.

That's a dealer extended warranty though, not a genuine Lotus warranty.

TBH, unless they're from a manufacturer like the Porsche Approved Warranty, most extended car warranties are close to worthless. You have to drill into the details of the exclusions and maintenance requirements to find out what you're really buying. There have recently been some class action suits because of the low quality of these warranties.

It's a shockingly simple warranty document, barely fits on one page. No exlusions other than requirement to follow maintenance...then it lists all the gasoline powered parts that are covered (drivetrain), then it says they are on the hook and the signor is the benefitee of the warranty. I was looking for the 20 pages of detailed exclusions and there aren't any - in this particular case they are the largest dealer across almost all car brands in Los Angeles and have been around forever, I guess they amortize over their entire sales fleet and the volume they cover over the decades. Again my assumption is once you start messing with your car like tunes, hybrid turbos, etc the warranty is void on the directly applicable parts but...there are no exclusions on this warranty contract it's just a simple list of things they cover.
