I've read another person who has added a sub and tweeters and got past this with opposite phase wiring, but don't know if anyone has attempted external amp driving new (full range) speakers. If so how did you defeat the system fake engine sounds from distorting your signal?

and to anyone with a US I4 and planning on adding external amps just fair warning as of now there's no information on whether or not it's an external module like a SoundAktor where we can pull the fuse. The issue is this signal is so strong it will render your new sub useless as the noise just rumbles the sub at very high volume, same with door panel speakers.

My 4 cylinder Porsche had a 'SoundAktor' speaker thing. It was apparently a VW part that was used on higher end VW 4 cylinder cars like the Golf R to try and disguise the 4 pot engine sound. Rather than being an air sound speaker I think it vibrated the bulkhead itself at equivalent engine speed to try and sound more like it was the car producing the sound. It was independent to the cars audio system so could just be unplugged, or even easier the fuse removed. Some owners liked disconnecting the speakers and hearing the real sound underneath, others reconnected it so they didn't have to hear the mundane monotone 4 cylinder noise.

I'm understanding the I4 Emira is adding the fake sound right from the infotainment sound source output. The only way to properly turn this off will be to hack/reprogram the car not to produce it. (Does the V6 have an identical sound system? Then you would want that version of the software installed).
