Auto100 - UK Trader in Sutton in Ashfield

Just got mine back from the dealers after both doors replaced, great job with the paint but a pity someone washed it before I picked it up and put swirl marks all over. It has to go back to get the car republished. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Back at the service centre for faulty USBs and software updates in May (soonest spot).

Its a pity Lotus is in an odd place location wise, we could have met up and blocked the entrance in protest.

Never ever ever ever let dealers wash your car. I'm sure they use an old sponge that has been used to wash every car on the lot that day and dropped on the floor countless times.

I don't, they admitted someone rinsed it off before I collected it and agreed to sort it out. If I was the painter I'd be peed off as he'd done a really good job only to be ruined by a moron.

I took my car to a detailer/paint correction specialist, what an eye opener! Marks ive never seen, even in sunlight, were revealed. Sanding marks from the factory, overspray and scratches from new door fitting and flaws in the paintwork from factory. It looked like it had only ever been washed at a £5 car wash. 😱 He did say the paintjob itself was pretty good and he couldn't see where the paint was blended in, just where masking tape residue had been left on.

He's going to get a quote to me for correcting everything and one just to put the bodyshops mistakes right. Anyone had Lotus pay for correcting anything like this?

I’ve just been told that it will be at least another 3 weeks, before I get my car back. That will make it 6 days in my ownership and 4 months at the dealer getting fixed…😡😩

Dear god mate, thats deplorable. I was going to suggest we all try to meet up at the Alun White gathering in early April, but that seems pointless to even consider, given that update

Well, the comedy of errors continues…

Lotus Colchester have just told me that they’ve had to remove PPF from some of the panels of my car and that they’ll need a receipt from me, for the PPFinstallation, so that they can claim it from Lotus warranty and apply new PPF…….only problem is, I didn’t have the car long enough to have PPF fitted. So that means Lotus HQ must have installed PPF. Why would Lotus HQ install PPF? I’ve now had to ask Lotus CC to send a receipt to Lotus Colchester for the PPF, so that Lotus Colchester can claim for the cost of re-installing PPF, from Lotus HQ…….

I mean, is it me or just WTF are Lotus up to?

One department, not talking to another shocker
They arent unique. Most companies have this issue
I'd be annoyed Lotus Colchester just didnt handle it all for you in the first place given the circumstances and contact points

Possibly they've mixed your car up with another one?

I can't see Lotus randomly installing PPF on a customers car in for warranty work.

No the PPF was installed before the car was sent for the warranty work. Lotus Colchester have confirmed that the PPF is “all over the car”. Lotus were the owners for the first 430 miles. Auto100had the car for 3 days and said they didn’t install any PPF, and I had the car for 6 days and certainly didn’t install the PPF. That means it has to be Lotus HQ.

Oooh, my car has the same circumstances as you. Off to go look if I have PPF :)

I’ve cleaned my car (excessive for having had it only 6 days I know) and I didn’t notice that it had PPF!

I don’t disagree with any of the above. I’m sorry not everyone has had a good experience.
In terms of Lotus aftercare, I spoke to Central Lotus (Nottingham) a few days ago to chat about the car, they couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. They let me know there were several outstanding recalls/software updates and immediately booked it in.
Also confirmed I could book the car in for its replacement door (blistering).
I didn’t feel second-rate because I hadn’t bought the car directly from them.

Anyway, my experience so far - I wish all Emira owners the best of luck with their car!

I've got to say too that my experience of Central Lotus in Nottingham has been first class. Did my test drive there ages ago and when Lotus lost my order (with deposit paid) they helped me out with information on a very low mileage example I'd found which I then bought. They serviced it a few months back and identified a couple of problems I didn't know I had which they then put right under warranty. Incidentally, they are no longer Lotus dealers but are still an authorised service centre. Do sell Morgans though so if you have a British sports car itch coming from the Malvern area, they might be good guys to talk to.
