Big price difference! As tested, the 911 was £145,000 and the Aston was £165,000.
I'll happily accept 4th place against that group. I wonder if the Turbo SE would have done worse or better?

They wanted more communicative steering !!!
I feel the steering is about as good as anything I have ever driven, except maybe for the Elise
Agree, that's an odd one. Most reviews praise the hydraulic steering.

I have given up on reading reviews of steering feel. They are all just making it up - some of them aren't but they are downed out by those that are, and it's difficult to tell them apart because they all use the same language.

It's one of those things that is so subjective (lighter/heavier, quicker/slower, re-centering, wheel shape, etc) and is just one aspect of how communicative a car is over all - the others being chassis feel and throttle/brake response.

Also, it's time for the 400hp turbo to be thrown in the mix.....no shift issues, higher redline, much more torque, and a bit lighter.

Saw this too. Autocar often compare similar cars but when you look at this price difference, the Emira is a no brainer. And yet when they posted about the revised on ethis week a load of comments were about the price, but mostly from people who still think a Ford Focus is about £15k and a 911 is about £70k!

On steering feel, I've never noticed much difference with the exception of my Elise which was just on another planet to anything else I've driven.

The steering is an odd criticism. I can't see what they said about the Porsche in that review, but as a Porsche owner (718 GTS) they are quite different. At lower speeds the Porsche is numb compared to the Emira, when you start to really push on, the Porsche comes more alive. That's the problem with modern Porsche's, unless you're driving them at 9/10ths (and doing silly speeds) they're not very involving. The Emira is alive at half the speed.

I'm still in tour mode trying to complete the 1000 mile torture exercise. I'm hoping sport and track offer quicker off center steering. Got used to my wife's x5m and it's down right twitchy.

Me too, i am not sure i have got past 400m yet, not helped by it being winter in the UK. Hoping to rack some miles up in the next few weeks.

My neighbour just got a 992.2 GTS and TBH, from looks a lone, its just another 911. I find Porsche design in general quite boring, they found a shape they liked and have pretty much stuck with it for years. Its been push, pulled, stretched over the years, but you can see the 80's 911 in the 2020's 911. To me just seems lazy design.
As to the performance, no idea and it may be the best performing car ever built, but I dont use a car at even 90% of its capabilities, so will never get to experience that extra bit, all that extra money buys.
For me the Emira is perfect, it looks gorgeous and the performance is enough that I can have fun without losing my license in the process. And to top it all, its a damn sight cheaper.
