Black Pack - Adds to it or Takes Something Away?

Nimbus: Should we do the black pack on it, or do you feel it kind of messes with the lines?

My partner and I want to get a Nimbus Emira.
Should we do the black pack on it, or do you feel it kind of messes with the lines of the car?
Thanks
It's a personal preference but I can think of several reasons why I personally think the black roof helps accentuate the car's lines. This car has an athletic/exotic look because it has a pinched waistline at the B-pillar; having a body-colored roof softens this design element. From the front and back, the car looks wider/lower with a black roof. Lastly, visually speaking, a black roof makes the passenger compartment look smaller, therefore accentuating the proportions.

That said, you can always buy the car without a black pack and vinyl-wrap the roof and pillars to get the same effect as the black pack.

I had to submit my build a few weeks ago and went Seneca with black pack. As someone stated earlier, it really depends on the color. I think it looks great on Seneca, but maybe takes something away from Magma (my second choice). Interestingly I think it looks good on Nimbus, but - from playing with the configurator - not so much with Silver. I think the only absolute no's in my mind are Dark Verdant and White (keep thinking of the Shamu look on FJ Cruisers).

In my opinion (they’re like arseholes, everyone’s got one), after a trip round the factory where there are cars in every colour, only Hethel Yellow and Seneca Blue suit the upper black pack. All the others are better with body coloured roof.
HY and Seneca do look great with the UBP.

i have nimbus and felt the black roof took away from the curves of the car, figured if i didnt like it i could always wrap the roof but i love the nimbus with lower black pack inc black wheels and silver calipers i went for.

I've never understood why anyone would pay $1200 extra for Lotus to paint the roof black when you could just cover it with black PPF and have the option to change your mind later.
This. I have a magma and had the detailers put a piano black PPF (not wrap) on the roof. Protects, and easy to remove if I ever want a change.

Could you post a few pics with closeups of how the PPF wraps around the vents on the engine hatch? Does it look just like paint?: Edit: I see that area is already black anyway.
And now they're charging $1400 for black pack. (USA)

It depends on the color. For example, I wouldn't get black pack with DV or shadow gray. Some cars like vivid red looks good with both black pack and without. Car's with a bold color like HY and SB looks better with the blackpack. Personally I Nimbus goes well with or without it but it depends on your choice of wheel/caliper color and interior as well.

I'm going sans black-pack (Seneca with silver wheels) as the body colour roof kind of grew on me, and was planning on swapping the rear lettering for black... but I'm also super tempted to actually debadge, just for the confusion factor 😁

Think of it more as a whole car theme, and not just the roof.

If you’re doing gloss black rims, you’d see good aesthetic return on black lettering and roof. If you’re doing silver rims, far less and you can do either.

Personally, I love the aesthetic of discrete lettering and the mystique of a black accented vehicle more than chrome or silver.

I just ordered a nimbus + black pack + black rims and red interior/calipers for the edgy look. Likely will get custom lotus badges in black/gray as well to complete it
That sounds cool

Black for me having seen both in the flesh. I like the low wide fighter pilot look and black lettering. Matches the diamond cut black wheels as well. I am getting mine with magma and white interior.

The car looks like it sits higher without the black pack, that was my motivation for getting it.
Only in the lighter colours. Strangely, brighter colours also make the car look higher off the ground due to the lower black pack and pinched waistline.

So with both upper and lower black packs the body colour is literally the meat in the middle of the (black pack) sandwich!

I have dark Verdant with the upper black pack, I like how it continues the roof line down over the back of the car and also differentiates between the black and green.
It's really difficult to catch on a camera but this is the best photo I have that shows it, the car is also rather dirty.

Having seen both with & without side by side with Nimbus the difference is the black pack makes the car look lower (height) & you get a cockpit look whereas Nimbus roof does show more of the overall lines. So both work - it just depends what you like

What color interior? I think BP looks amazing on Nimbus. But also like Nimbus w no BP and red leather. BUT - i think Nimbus w BP amd red leather is just too much going on. Any interior other than red I would do BP. I think it looks sick - very Mclaren. Ive been having this debate for 2 years.
