Hey everyone,

First, I just want to say hi. New member, first time posting.

I’m seriously considering the Emira and have a test drive scheduled for next weekend. For the past eight years, I’ve exclusively driven Teslas, so this would be my first gas-powered car in a long time. While I’ve driven plenty of gas cars as rentals and from friends, nothing I've driven has gotten close to matching the thrill of the instant torque from a Tesla. To be fair, I've not driven anything close to a junior supercar. That said, I’m getting bored with Tesla’s design language, and the Emira is one of the few cars that genuinely excites me now.

Are there any former Tesla owners here, or those who own both, who can share their thoughts? Based on what I’ve read, I feel confident that the Emira’s driving experience will meet my expectations, but I know the tech and infotainment will be a step down. As someone who’s really into tech (and the associated benefits like built in dashcam, preheating remotely, remote tracking, etc), that’s been one of the biggest reasons I’ve stuck with Tesla for so long. CarPlay helps ease that concern a bit, but I’d love to hear from those who have made the switch—how do you feel about the trade-offs, do you regret it at all?

Before discovering the Emira, I was ready to pull the trigger on a Model S Plaid, so this would be a big shift. Any insights would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I think the driving experience will blow you away. its on a whole different plan of existence from a tesla

however if you get the v6, I think you may miss the instant torque because while I wouldnt call the Emira slow, its slower than any performance trim tesla in a straight line. on the other hand the i4 acceleration will feel similar to the tesla but you need to sacrifice a few things. sacrifices I wouldn't make, but thats a longer conversation

tech, i couldnt speak to. iv hardly used the infotainment nor was that something i considered at all while car shopping. i exclusively use apple carplay

I have a Cybertruck and a V6 Emira. The Cybertruck makes daily errands effortless and is safe and comfortable for the whole family. The Emira has exquisite styling and looks fantastic in any setting. It has just enough tech and comfort to enjoy as a daily driver but analog enough to be engaging and rewarding to drive.

I have a Model S Plaid, Model 3 standard and Lotus Emira (replace my Lotus Evora)
My wife calls the Lotus the "anti-tesla"
Lotus = Simplify and add lightness
Tesla = lot of tech and weight be damned

Very different animals. I do love the plastic acceleration and instant torque of the Tesla, but the Lotus adds a bit of drama to the drive
The Emira is so much more refined than my Evora. You will not get self-driving in the Emira but the infotainment with android and apple CarPlay is very good.
The Lotus is going to be head and shoulder more fun on average backroad driving even at lower speeds. The Tesla is smooth and quite but you're breaking the law within seconds to get that thrill.
I still really like my Teslas, but if I have to choose only one for fun I'm going with the Lotus every time.
Tesla will always have more storage, more economical fuel, just all around more practical, but the Lotus is just sublime. Connection to the road and command of a vehicle cannot be matched.

how do you like the cyber truck?? Those things look crazy. The other day I was stopped at a red light behind a cyber truck and when it turned green it took off like a bat out of hell!! Reminded me the the kingda ka rollercoaster at six flags.

Glad to hear your perspective, especially since you have a Plaid. I imagine if the driving experience is as awesome as everyone says it is, the trade-offs will be less of a concern.

It's fantastic! It's probably the most luxurious vehicle I've ever been in. It floats down the road effortlessly, and the Full Self Driving is unbelievably good. The tech is fantastic, and it can tow my Emira to the track if I decide I want to take spare tires, tools, fuel, etc.

I have a model Y performance, and it is perfect for what it is meant to do. The Emira is not a replacement as it is a completely different experience, it is a sensory overload (in a good way) in comparison to the Tesla's sensory deprivation. With that said, there are different times where I prefer to be one or the other. If I want tech I get in the Tesla, and when I am in the Emira I am too focused on driving to care about any lack of tech.

Have a Model 3 Performance and a Lucid Air Touring (the Model 3 is about to be put on the market). The Emira certainly doesn't have the off the line torque you experience in an electric car but it makes wonderful noises and is really rewarding when you get the shifts right. Plenty fast for the street. Apple CarPlay works great. Decent nav/Tidal/hands free messaging/phone integration which is all I need. I can't say I miss all of the additional tech in the Tesla (I never watched Netflix in the car, played games, lightship, etc). The built in dashcam (Sentry mode) would be neat to have in the Emira but the rest of it I'm now used to living without. The Emira is my daily (coming up on 12k miles since delivery last May). Zero regrets for me.
