800 miles in and my car has been almost flawless so far, but I have discovered what I think may be be a minor bug in the cruise control software. When the cruise control is set, the + and - buttons on the steering wheel adjust the speed in 5 mph increments, not 0.6 mph increments which it should be according to the manual. This makes it very difficult to fine tune your cruising speed. Has anyone else had this problem or am I missing something?

That is normal behavior. Long press the buttons to set it in 1 km/h increments.

Agreed. I posted on this in my Journal Thread. There are a number of areas where what the car does is not exactly the same as what the manual says.

True, it's not very clearly written.. Many mistakes in the German translation too.

Looks like they took the Evora one and cut and pasted stuff from Volvo. The manual even mentions Evora at one point rather than Elmira. For example there is the confusion about the wiper stalk intermittent functions which are not helped by the fact that the wiper is not working as it is supposed to either!

If it is meant to be like that it isn't very intuitive or easy to use if you want to fine tune your speed. Single short press gives +/- 5mph, long press +/- 0.6 mph increments. I reckon it should be the other way around as it is on my BMW. Oh well, I'll put it down as a 'feature' rather than a bug :) Car is otherwise fault free so far so I'm doing pretty well!

Now I worked out what it’s doing I have found it quite useful. Coming up behind something with cruise on, a quick press drops 5 mph and a second drops another 5. Assess what’s going on and then click click back up. Alternately use the pedal to get back up to speed and a single press in the centre of the control pad locks the new speed back in. If I do need to adjust in smaller increments then press and hold gives the smaller increments but I don’t find myself doing that very often.

I agree the 'short' button press should be small speed change and a longer press for larger changes. Not intuitive! I had a problem with the limiter cutting in when trying to alter the cruise speed, very dangerous as each time I tried to get back into cruise mode, the speed limiter reduced my speed in 5 mph steps. Luckily there was a pull off that I could take , stop the car, switch off and restart with neither cruise nor limit activated. Not sure if Lotus can de-activate the limiter completely, will ask dealer!

You can _always_ gas it, no matter if limiter or cruise. YOU are in control at all times. Just need a little bit of emphasis on the inputs. Tapping the brake will also cancel the cruise control. Also, a single center press would've disabled whatever was active immediately.

When you say 'gas it' I tried flooring the accelerator pedal in limit mode, No speed increase.

Not sure what went wrong for you, but flooring it will definitely allow you to accelerate, regardless of the limit. Quote from the manual:
Temporary Deactivation of Speed

Limiter

During overtaking, the vehicle speed might have to be higher than the set speed limit. To temporarily deactivate:

  • Fully press the accelerator pedal until the speed limiter is temporarily deactivated.
  • You can then overtake the other ve-hicle.
  • Fully release the accelerator pedal when the temporary acceleration is finished.

Engine braking will then automatically restore the vehicle speed to below the last stored maximum speed.
Note that flooring it doesn’t deactivate it like braking on cruise control does. It'll engine brake to your set limit after releasing the gas again. Just pressing once in the left middle should turn the icon white and set the system to standby again
