Disabling steering wheel touch controls?

I don't have my car yet, but with your videos I can now finally see what everyone means with the touch sensitive controls. I agree, what's the point of this when the button does the same function with much more accuracy.

I suppose if enough people complain to their dealer / Lotus this could be a new setting that gets added?

Guess how many complained about wipers?

Anyone figured out how to disable the touch feature yet? Have had problems getting this right from day one. I continue to be terrible at getting it right.

I saw a YouTube video (from China) advertising actual button replacements for the soft-touch pads on the steering wheel. If it were manufactured to a high standard it may be a great option.

Anyone figure out how to disable the touch feature of the stock buttons?

It's a hybrid touch/button. The entire panel on each side of the steering wheel is a switch which depresses, and it reads your finger position when it's clicked to figure out what you're pressing. The problem is that the whole thing is so easy to depress, you're always hitting it with your palm when you're driving with any gusto.

I replaced mine with the physical buttons, and it's much better, because each individual button is spring loaded, so you need to apply more pressure in a specific spot, so you are a lot less likely to depress something with your palm. It's better, but not perfect.

If you don't need the touch controls, remove the airbag and unplug them. IIRC, there's a plug, but I don't remember precisely anymore.

Seems as tho the buttons are on backorder. Would be great to figure out if there is a way to program the stock touch pad to not scroll etc.

I think this is unlikely based on how you can just swap the touch and button style controls. Most likely you'd need to modify the module either from a hardware or firmware point of view.

Does anyone know of a film that could be applied that would block capacitive touch?

Edit: This probably still won't work.
