Does it seem smaller than a 911?

Hey there

I am a Porsche 911 driver here. I've had a 997, 991 and 992. Great cars, but I wanted to move to Emira because
I want a smaller, Cayman-like feel... and the 991 and 992 Porsches feel bloated.

However, I was browsing the forum and found this photo (from @Emirahep) and it baffles me.

Why does it baffle me?

Well, it seems the Emira is longer than the 991 Porsche.

But, after doing some research, an Emira is 173.7 inches long, and the Porsche 991 is 176.8 inches long.

However, in this image, the Emira looks longer.

My question to you: does the Emira seem and look smaller in real life? I was hoping for something more Cayman-sized.

Thanks a ton.

Similar to 997 in size and a tad wider looking than cayman. Looks smaller than 992. IMO

And way more exotic looking than both of those. From a looks standpoint the Emira wins, easily.

Driven 997.2, 991.1. Feels like 997 in steering (hydraulic), in that you can feel a lot of the road, wheel dancing around on potholes and road imperfections. But, I think the Emira steering is even sharper, I.e. from the moment you turn to the point you feel lateral forces in your ribs and waist, it’s almost no lag.

It makes it feels smaller, even though in reality it’s probably close to the 997.

The Emira is a little shorter in length but a little wider than a 911 992 but what makes it feel smaller is that it is lower.

I'd put the Emira in the medium size car bracket.

Emira has same wheel base as Evora, as far as I'm aware. And Evora was a 2+2 like 911. Harry M also did some analysis of weight distribution and said it was more comparable with 911 than Boxster/Cayman (ie further aft than latter, IIRC). Here's another pic with a 911 (997):

What's also noticeable is how much further forward the seating position is with the cabin forward Emira. The 911 position is almost as if it were front engined. Some years ago I had a 1930s 6 cylinder Lagonda where the windscreen was almost central from a side view, the front being all bonnet. And it was a 4 seater.

This has been said before in other threads but, this car melts around you.

I'm familiar with 991, but not 997. I'd say Emira cabin feels more compact, but the corners feel wider. You feel cab forward in the Emira, closer to the front of the car, but the right-front fender feels further away when putting it on an Apex.

With that said, once you get moving this car shrinks. It's so nimble and the visibility so good that it starts to feel smaller and smaller. I never got that impression with the 991, which always felt the same size to me even after I was comfortable with it and pushing.
