"Donkey on the Fender: Fun Badge or Ferrari Mimicry?"

Yes. Sorry if English isn't your first language. Faux , from French used for "fake or imitation" like "faux fur" or "faux leather".

Pronounced the same as "foe". So instead of "Ferrari" "Fo-rrari" (effectively only changing one vowel sound though spelled quite different), but arriving at the same meaning.

I’ve had the Donkey Badges for a few weeks now! Although they seem to put a smile on peoples faces, I believe the car ultimately looks better without them.

I actually think it looks better with them, especially in yellow on DV, but I’d prefer them to be less Ferrari shaped and maybe just a Lotus badge.

This is an actual Lotus Fender badge above. It more diminutive than the Donkey Badges!

For me it’s wrong, it looks like an imitation of a superior brand. Tacky is the word I’d use.

That said it’s subjective and completely down to the individual

I can see how it might come across as a bit tacky, but that's part of the charm, isn't it? The Donkey badge is intentionally designed to mimic the Ferrari logo, all in good fun. It's meant to be a playful nod—just a little humor and lightheartedness!

Like I said, each to their own it is subjective of course.

But tacky to my mind is not what I want from this car. It doesn’t need to pretend to be something it’s not

I completely respect that it's a matter of personal taste, and I understand where you're coming from. For me, the donkey badge adds a bit of fun and character to my Lotus Emira—it's not about pretending to be something it’s not, but just enjoying the car in my own way. I’ve never been accused of having bad taste, and this is simply my way of adding some levity. I get that it's not for everyone, but it's all in good fun!
