Emira Issues - from final production cars

I had an engine warning light and Limp Mode warning, took it to Lotus Glasgow, gave it the most recent software update and found a loose earth connection, all resolved, no dramas, no hassle and now enjoying my lovely car.
Its a new model sportscar, it doesnt surprise me in the slightest that it needs a few tweaks but for the life of me i dont get the amount of negativity being spouted by some people.
Looking forward to my weekend of driving :)

Do you know whereabouts is the loose earth wire so we can have a look on ours. Thanks

Great to hear your car is fine now. Could you give a little detail as to whice earth / ground connection was loose?
Called Lotus Glasgow and they said "Earth on rear tub, inside of offside rear wheel arch (cover off?)..earthing point affects tailgate, exhaust flaps etc etc"
Sorry i know nothing of cars hence the quote...

Thank you. By "tub", I'm assuming the aluminum tub not the steel engine mount. "Offside" would mean left side (passenger side) in the UK? I guess it would be easy to see with the car on lifts and the bottom panels removed...

yes Alu Tub and Passenger side in UK...no idea if it is easy to see...i have no intention of ever going under it (y) :)

Small update. I took my car in to be looked at;

- Anyone with AirCon issues will probably be solved with the new software update.
- Twisted seat belts are supposed to be twisted
- CarPlay lag was reduced with an update
- Steering creaking/cracking sound when parking up is normal, and no damage is being caused. Its a characteristic of the car, I was told.

Appreciate the update! I took mine in for a new wiper motor yesterday, which is now working fine. I got them to check the oil level after 2500 miles and it was fine, they also completed a health check and there were no issues. I mentioned the hill-hold issue and cold-start stalling to them after seeing it on this forum, and they said they had noticed it on one of their demo cars but they couldn't tell me any more about if/when there's any fix planned. I use my car as a daily driver and haven't experienced either issue so am wondering if they are mostly occurring on cars with occasional use only...

Yeah, the Emira really is a “cracking car” that gives a lot of pleasure❣️

<<adjective [usually ADJECTIVE noun] You use cracking to describe something you think is very good or exciting. [British, informal] It's a cracking novel.>>

I appreciate you bringing up the cold start stall, it’s a shame they have a demo car that exhibits said behaviour and haven’t done more to diagnose that. Is there anyone at Lotus I should make aware of this issue? I’m not trying to be a jobs worth, honestly I’m just sitting on it currently to see if it sorts itself out, but if they don’t know about the problems they aren’t going to prioritise a fix.

From what I understand, fuel in the fuel line can slowly drain back into the tank, creating a cold start stall issue. Why this happens on some cars and not others I'm not sure.

Should be a simple software fix - e.g. briefly run the fuel pump when turning on the ignition to prime the fuel line before actual engine start.

I would say report it your local dealer who should be relaying it to Lotus HQ. I have done this already on others behalf. My local dealer said he would raise it with them and also confirmed he does look at the forum from time to time and had heard of it even though none of his customers had experienced issues. If enough of us say it they will have to start taking notice!

I get my car back tomorrow. Apparently it’s another software fix to fix the previous software update. Lotus know about it. Fingers crossed it will be fixed. Will update everyone.

Tbh, mine never had this problem when new. It gradually developed this problem after a few months. Maybe it’s a mechanical issue or software glitches that it’s previously had and they are now recorrecting the software. Who knows!

That's really encouraging news. Great to see these early issues being (slowly) ironed out.

I've got an issue that I don't think has been reported. You can't get into the centre console bin when there's a cup in the rear cupholder unless you have child's hands, because the clip is blocked. I think it's a disgrace. I'm going to write to my MP.

Some interesting observations posted on 'Hethel to South of France' thread by a new owner which I thought I would share on here.
According to Lotus factory collection -
1. the best way to avoid gremlins is to drive it lots as soon as possible;
2. advised to keep the KEF audio at half volume (controlled through the main settings) to allow the system to bed in;
3. avoid cruise control and running in using ‘sport’ mode also advised.
Did anyone else receive this info upon collection or delivery?
