100% possibility. I’ve gotten used sets from two vendors now and a used set from aliX. All were sold as new.

My order does not say the parts are new or used. My fear is I will receive faded or broken parts and returns to Asia are a pain

Yes, just checked myself. The page now states these are second-hand and used. I'm pretty sure it didn't say that before.

Good catch. I went ahead and cancelled my order. Pretty much they are selling used parts at new prices. No deal here

I recently received my after purchase survey from Lotus and I added in the comments about this steering wheel haptics issue. Here is the reply I received yesterday from the “Field Operations Manager”:

“Thank you for your feedback on the steering wheel touch / swipe control. This has been fed back to the engineering teams for future product enhancement consideration.”

Hopefully a future update will give us a disable option.

Let's try to push for this!! If anyone that gets a survey can request this maybe it will get implemented!! This is our best solution.

I think the issue is the reliability of the source. Buying anything but new from a place that has problematic returns may be a waste of money. It would be helpful if the AliExpress vendor had actual picture of the product I was receiving, not just stock photos of the product that may or may not be in good condition.
The controls that came with the car work they just do not work well.
I can be patient and wait to see what is offered from a reliable source.

I just got my order confirmation from the seller through by email - on this it doesn't mention anything about them being second-hand. So the web page was changed after this. Maybe I got lucky and got the last set of new ones? I will see when they arrive and let you know.
To be honest even if they are second hand the current touch sensitive ones are annoying me so much that I would be OK (if not exactly happy) with that. Fed up of having to look away from the road wondering why the controls aren't working as I have inadvertently swiped on it.

I agree and will be doing the same and keeping my order. The touch sensitive buttons annoy me quite a bit and since there's no other readily available solution, I'll give it a go.
