Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

Interesting Article.... Does this mean all of the unregistered orphaned Emira's in UK/EU need to find a home by July 1st or risk not being sellable??

'Although the 718 is no longer available to configure in EU markets, you can still buy a brand-new Boxster or Cayman by picking from whatever's available in stock. The clock is ticking because that will no longer be possible from July 1 when unsold cars will become unregistrable."

If that is the case, I think we will be seeing some BIG sales from Lotus very very soon!

Unlikely. I would think that the Emira is new enough to have taken these security rules into account.
Porsche don't want to redesign their old system on those cars because of cost.
But just say it did apply to the Emira, Lotus would then have to pre-register all of the cars they have in stock.

I had to double check this as we are quite close to April 1st.

I believe ADAS is required to be compliant with new EU regs. So no doubt the cars being produced after July 1st will require ADAS (for EU/UK at least). I do wonder if this is the end of the V6 manual for Europe?

EDIT; This is for EU only, looks like UK is spared from the new regs!

Today........
99 x Emira on Auto Trader UK and 102 x Emira on AutoScout24 Eur. Continent.........total 201 x........
26 x Evora on Auto Trader UK and 37 x Evora on AutoScout24 Eur. Continent...........total 63 x........

A lot of new i4 Turbos have come on to the market adding to the numbers on sale.

< £60k threshold will be broken in Sept - used Emira with low miles is quite a buy v’s new price.

This is potentially a big issue for lotus in a year or two. My optional final payment is about 45k for what will be a four year old car at that point. They might not be worth it at this rate

Do you folks in the UK see this kind of price degradation with other premium/sports cars? Or would you say Lotus is hit harder than others?

This marketplace dynamic on Lotus cars doesn't exist in the US (yet).

I wonder if it’s also influenced by more options - meaning more emiras produced as well as the alpine a110. I have to assume there is overall softness for generally available cars.

All cars in Europe and especially the UK depreciate rapidly compared to the US. I would love to know why. I have always just assumed that the high proportion of expensive to maintain European cars just brings down the whole market.

As someone being messed around by Lotus cars it’s not so much this end of the used market I find interesting but the under 100mile cars. Look at the saving here, main dealer, 20miles for under 70, instantly saving 18k

This is part of my argument. In a few years time do I pay 45k to keep my four year old car or buy a brand new one for 70?

I keep seeing tons of unsold cars being listed at Lotus dealers. I think most are going for msrp but I would imagine that they could be had for under rather easily.

That’s totally up to you, cars don’t have to make sense
To be honest, after cleaning the car today and finding the passenger side paint now starting to bubble, after waiting six months for them to sort the drivers side and before that four months to sort the air con, I'm starting to think 'sod this' I'll go get an M4 or maybe an M2 and cut my losses. I really like drive of the car but the ownership experience isn't great.

Its just one thing after another with the Emira and my patience is starting to wear.

I like the car also, but patience for simple things running low for me as well.

Towed x 3 in 5 months (2 clutch and now a battery or alternator problem). Posted this morning on what happened last night 🤣
