Hi all

I’ve noticed a flashing engine light when switching on the ignition (into active mode - on button held for 5 seconds).

The light comes on, then flashes after a few seconds, for a few seconds and then illuminates (as I believe it’s meant to with the ignition on). The video shows what I’m talking about.

When I start the engine, there is no light and no codes are shown using OBDII scanner and the car drives as expected.

Any ideas? Is it meant to do this and I’ve not noticed it as I don’t really ever switch the ignition on without also firing up the engine?!

Thanks

I have a bit more information after posting on Facebook, which has then led me down a rabbit hole…….

The MIL flashing on ignition indicates the reddiness of the vehicles monitors.

If all diagnosis is completed, the MIL will remain illuminated upon ignition i.e. will not flash. It will go out once the engine is started.

If all diagnosis is not completed, the MIL will illuminate and then flash a number of times before then illuminating again. It will then go out once the engine is started.

A “drive cycle” is required to then “ready the system” but given I’ve driven a fair bit since, I’m not sure how to sort 🤷🏽‍♂️
