First Emira has hit BaT

I've bought a few cars off BaT.
I learned my lesson the hard way.
In general I'd say it's a dumping ground for shit.
I've had better luck with later model cars. But for the most part undisclosed issues and inflated prices are the norm over there.
This is true. I bought a fully restored classic, no expenses spared. Seller was a well know mark specialist. Offcourse a description promoting a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I won, bid premium. To find that a lot of relevant info was left out. Engine was fully overhauled according to BAT…turned out to be a basketcase…modified incorrect cilinder head with aluminium parts grinded off to make it look old and period correct, which it offcourse not was and photos showing the modifications were left out of the auction… reconditioned carbs with worn shafts and bearings…engine leaking oil and fluid big time. Fast modern cams turned out to be old different manufacturer cams. About the rest…the car was put together by 2 clowns who made a mess of it.

So to cut the story short…bought at premium for 60k, paid >5k in commission for the great write up and photos…had to take the car and engine apart to correct the mistakes made with a 20k bill as a result.

The thrill of bidding and winning though is priceless….then you learn your lesson that the bank always wins!
 
Those Nimbus photos are amazing. He caught the range of color shift really well.
 
Why sell yours? (Especially on BAT?)
Too many life changes in the 3 years that it took to receive it since order, no time for toys now. I listed with BaT in early June, they take awhile to publish it. Manheim auctions are bringing much higher prices than BaT now and it'll go there next if not sold on BaT.

Did you have a 1.0 LE or was yours a 2.0 LE with higher price?

Interesting so after taxes your in the 102 to 105k. Curious what she brings above that number. I heard Bat fees are steep. My C8 Z51 in 2020 around this month sold for 119k I paid all in 82k.

It’s up to $7,500 now.

I personally would not pay over MSRP for this car. If anything, I can wait and expect a discount. The car market, like the luxury watch market, has started trending down. I have two local Lotus dealers offering me cars that people bailed on: one dealer at MSRP+$10K while the other is straight MSRP.

Say what you will about late comers should pay ADM, I don’t believe in that. MSRP is MSRP and the wait was done by someone already. They chose not to buy the car and pass it down. Why should the new buyer have to pay ADM just because they didn’t get in line. Perhaps they have been waiting on the sidelines to see what happens. I don’t play the ADM game for anything and also believe, like some on here, that these will sell below MSRP by end of year. The hype has worn off and flippers realized there’s no money to be made here.
Totally agree about no ADM I don't have any pithy remarks about ADM's. They really just waste a lot of time. I was really interested in the new Z for a while then I saw the ADM's dealers were asking and turned away a year later the dealer couldn't give them away and they just didn't turn out to be the new "Z" the market was looking for. So maybe I should change my mind ADM's are great they make me reign in my admittedly childish impulse buying.

I don't expect it to be above that #, and I'm not looking to make money on it. Manheim values (wholesale) are higher than BaT, and I wouldn't have listed it on BaT if I hadn't already paid the listing fee before the last 3 Emiras ran. I'm just letting it run for 5 more days and then will decide what to do with it after.

Makes sense hate to lose money on any of these deals. My Z06 is being built July 22nd expect to get it 2nd week of August. Could have had it in January of 2022 but was building a house. Flipping back then would have netted me 50 to 80k dam that was stupid to tell them pass me up.

I doubt anyone is going to make money selling an Emira today. Manheim is better, but then I have to kick a dealer friend some side cash and pay Manheim's fees.

That is exactly why I bought an emira. Harry said it in one of his videos—something like the best use case for older technology.
I like the new interior. I am only hoping that people will think of what to do when the screens get outdated. I would have loved a good analog dash and physical controls for everything. They did a good job on the center screen, but down the road, what to do if that system goes janky? I hope there is a solution eventually

I wouldn't call it a flop. I bought a 23 Z Performance model when they first hit the market, really nice car and alot of fun for $53k. Drove it for a year and traded it in on a 24 Z Nismo edition, which is a fantastic car and a ton of fun for $66k. IMO, for the extra $13k for the Nismo is well worth the Performance, suspension, interior and exterior upgrades. Also more track oriented plus a great daily driver.
