Emira Owner
A couple days ago, I picked up my Magma Red I4 from Louts Denver and drove it back to our home in Ridgway, CO. Fantastic car! I love the engine and transmission...I've only enjoyed it in Tour mode and <4k rpm, but even then, it's brilliant. In auto mode the transmission works well and allows for a relaxing drive. The auto handles sportier driving ok, though once I got the hang of manual mode I quickly started using that more and absolutely love it. The shift speed was great, the only delays noticed being a double-downshift (which makes sense when you consider the DCT technology). I liked how easy it was to jump into temporary manual mode, or permanent manual mode shifting - and likewise easy to go back to auto. My only issue was with closing the trunk....the dealer did go over this with me when I picked up the car and showed where the manual release was located...which I needed later when I didn't close the lid completely. I couldn't unlatch it with the fob, nor close it enough for that to work. The manual release worked just fine though.

Turbo lag is only noticeable trying to accelerate quickly from a stop (I can't wait to finish break-in and try the launch control!). The engine noises, especially with the window down, are wonderful! Really loving this car.

I've owned a 2005 Lotus Elise for over 20 years. I wasn't sure how the Emira would compare. Now that I've put a few hundred miles on the Emira, I'd say they're really totally different cars. There's no substitute for an Elise for just fun spirited driving, the way it's connected to the road is unmatched. The Emira does great, no complaints there, there's just really no comparison to an Elise. But I'll love the Emira for the longer trips that my wife and I want to take it on, where the Elise just isn't being used for what it's designed.

Sadly, I decided not to keep both and the Elise has already been sold - awaiting its new owner to come pick it up.

Congratulations. About the trunk, just use a little bit of force every time you close the trunk.
I don't know if your dealter has updated your EMIRA with the latest program, you can step on the BREAK and press the UPSHIFT paddle for 3 seconds in P or N gear, you can go directly into D gear.
Although the 4-cylinder AMG doesn't have a particularly loud exhaust sound, I prefer the turbo release sound of this car to the exhause sound. The turbo sound of a huge pressure release valve when youu step on accelerator and immediately release it. If you feed fuel slowly and linearly, you get a turbine sound similar to that of a commercial airplane before takeoff.

Welcome! If you apply some pressure to the truck lid and hold the trunk release button at the same time, it will work.
