Had the car ceramic coated over the weekend 😁

PPF cannot prevent rock chips if the rock size is not tiny, then PPF will tear and it will look worse until re-PPF.

If the rock size is tiny, then it does not really matter even on a car without PPF, because it can be fixed without re-painting.

Also, the edge of PPF on a curbed corner area will collect dust and it will look worse than no-PPF (if the car color is a bright color such as silver or white).

PPF cost is already too high for the value of the car, and it needs do re-PPF if hitting by rocks is really happening.

What is the point of PPF then (if the cost of PPF is already expensive nowadays) ?

Some PPFs are considerably thicker than others so some may provide better rock chip protection than others.

Otherwise I do personally agree with you.

Hold on.. Lotus are taking it to a pro-shop for PPF install aren't they? That is what I last heard.
Surely too labour intensive for their own staff to do it.
Lotus are supposed to be gearing up to offer PPF from factory. Last I heard, it was going to be a specialist near Hethel but that may have changed.

I'd be concerned if it was being done by BCA as part of the PDI and delivery process. They are doing the ceramic coating if you select that as a factory pre-delivery option and so far the results I've heard about have been "variable".
