Hi everybody

I bring greetings from the Alfa 4C forum. Having owned my Alfa for 8 great years I’m wondering if it’s time for a change and quite like the idea of an Emira. Not sure whether a V6 (love the sound), AMG (love the acceleration), manual or automatic would suit so am looking forward to learning from existing owners.

Cheers

Well, I love the 4C although I've not driven one. It all depends on what you want from an Emira. My V6 manual probably doesn't get away from the lights as fast as an auto or the i4 but that's not how I drive anyway. Once rolling and on good A and B roads it's both fast and responsive and rewarding to drive. You have a number of options.

those are the right questions. Sounds vs. speed. Manual vs. auto.

if you want the old school sports car experience where you are doing all the work, the v6 manual is the obvious choice. it's nearly unique in the marketplace.

if you want auto, it's more gray. I think the v6 gives you more theater and can play the GT role well. I'm surprised how good the v6 with the supercharger sounds. it's pretty cool. the AMG is going to be the easy button for cruising and for speed. so if you want to be seen and heard, I'd go v6 auto. if you want a fast torquey car, AMG.

Thanks for your welcomes and replies. I agree with all that’s been said above. In my heart I want the sound of the V6 - I thinks it’s amongst the best sound for the money, though the 4l 6 cylinder Boxster sounds equally as good in my opinion. My heart also wants a manual box, though the 8speed full throttle changes are difficult to ignore in my head - certainly more practical too when not pressing on. Perhaps I should buy a restored classic 911, 65 Mustang or Escort mk1. Or keep my Alfa.
Anyway, I’ll keep reading here and getting a few test drives in and hopefully make the right decision - whatever it looks like!

Definitely do a test drive. It was not until I saw and drove the Emira that I said, "Yes, this is what I want. I'm glad I put down a deposit." I had test-driven an Evora 400 previously and decided it was not for me. So yes, experience them all!
